Organize & sort books in your library

To make it easier to find a book, you can organize the books in your library.

When you hide a book from your library, it’ll only be shown on your hidden shelf on the web. It won’t appear in the rest of your library or on your devices. If you want to remove them permanently, you can do it through Library on the Google Play web.

Organize your books in groups

Create a shelf

On your computer, go to your Play Books library.
From the left, under “Shelves,” click Create shelf.
Name the shelf.
Click Create.

Add books to a shelf

On your computer, go to your Play Books library.
Find the book in your library.
Select the book.
Click More Add to shelves.
Select which shelf you want to add your book to, or create a new shelf.
Click Save.

Hide & unhide purchased books

While the hide feature is available across all devices, unhide is limited to the hidden shelf. On the web, you can restore books back to the Library with their:

Previous annotations
Bookmarks
Last read positions

To hide purchased books:

On your computer, go to your Library.
Select the title you want to hide.
Click Menu Hide book.

To unhide purchased books:

On your computer, go to the hidden shelf or page.
On the book you want to unhide, click Menu Unhide book.

Permanently delete purchased books

Important: When a book is permanently deleted, it’s removed from the Google Play library on all your devices. Once it’s deleted, you can't have a record or restore it back to your library. If you purchased the book, the option to process a refund is no longer available.

On your computer, go to your hidden shelf or page.
On the book you want to delete, click Menu Permanently Delete.
Follow through the prompt on the screen.

Filter books by genre, author, progress & more

On your computer, go to your Play Books library.
At the top, use the filters to find the book you want.

Find books you haven't read yet

On your computer, go to your Play Books Library.
At the top right, click the Progress drop down menu.
Select Not Started.

Find all the books in a series

On your computer, go to your Play Books library.
At the top left, click Series.
Click the series name to get a list of all the books in that series.

Tips:

This list displays all the books in the series, not just the ones you own.
To find the books you own, in the ownership drop-down menu, select Owned or Unowned.
You can organize a series by "Series order" or "Reverse series order."

Find a book's series information

Go to play.google.com.
At the top, click Books.
Go to the book you want to find the series information for.
Click Continue the series.
