Many mobile games are designed for touchscreens, which can be difficult to play with only a mouse pointer. To customize your gaming experience for unoptimized mobile titles on PC, you can map keyboard keys to on-screen touch controls with the Controls Editor.
Tips:
- For games that already have optimized PC controls, the Controls Editor isn’t available. To remap keys for these optimized games you can go to the Game Controls settings page.
- Customizable key mappings: Map any keyboard key to any on-screen touch control.
- Joystick support: Map keyboard controls to virtual joysticks.
- Shareable control schemes: Share your control schemes with others or import other user's control schemes.
How to use the Controls Editor
- Open Game Controls:
- In windowed mode: On the left side of the game window, click the Game controls.
- In fullscreen mode:
- To open game options, press Shift + Tab.
- Select Remap Controls.
- Add a control:
- To add a control, click Edit.
- Select the type of control you want to add:
- Joystick
- Tap
- Configure the control: To trigger this control, on the keyboard, press any key like “Space” and assign any label like “Jump.”
- For Joystick: It’s pre-populated with WASD keys if they aren’t already in use. You can customize the key mappings as desired.
- Move and resize the control: Drag and drop the control over the corresponding virtual in-game element you want this control to interact with. To align with the size of the virtual in-game element, you can also optionally change the size of the control. To resize the control, drag on the corner of the control.
- Add other keys: Repeat steps 2–4 as needed. To map to different on-screen controls, you can also add other keys. For example, you can map the "J" key to an "interact" button and the "K" key to an "attack" button.
- Test your controls: Test your new control scheme to make sure it works as expected. To exit the Game Controls screen, click the green checkmark next to control types
.
- The assigned keyboard keys should now be able to interact with the game.
Tips:
- Save and share: You can save your custom control scheme and share it with other users. Advanced users can export their controls as a text string file to share online or with friends.
- Import controls: If you’re new to a game or want to try a different control setup, you can import control schemes that others have shared.
- Hide or show controls: To show and hide created or imported controls, click the Control labels in the Sidebar or press F12.
Based on the game or platform, specific options and features in the Controls Editor may vary.
