In select regions for select users, if you need to purchase an app or make an in-app purchase on Google Play, you can ask someone else to pay for your purchases. The payer can make a purchase for you with their own payment methods available through Google Play.
You can share the payment link on various platforms, such as WhatsApp, Messages, or Email. After the payment is made, the payer won't receive the item, only the person who requested the payment will receive the item.
Important:
- This is only available for paid apps and in-app purchases.
- This may not be available for purchases in all apps.
- You can only ask someone else to pay if they're in the same region as you.
This feature is currently available in these regions for select users:
- Australia
- Brazil
- India
- Indonesia
- Japan
- Mexico
- New Zealand
- United States
How does this work
Ask someone else to pay (Requester)
- When you make a purchase on Google Play, tap the payment option Ask someone else to pay.
- To send the payment link generated, tap Share payment link.
- Select which method you want to share the payment link.
- To check if someone completes your purchase request, open your Google Play Order History.
Cancel a purchase request
You can't purchase an item if you have a pending request for someone else to pay for that same item. If you already created a request for someone else to pay, you'll need to cancel that pending request in order to purchase the item directly yourself or to ask a different person to pay. To cancel your request:
- Go to Google Play Budget & Order History.
- On your pending purchase, tap Cancel.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to cancel your purchase request.
Tips:
- You can’t ask someone else to pay if you have an offer applied to your purchase. If you’d like to ask someone else to pay, remove the offer from your purchase.
- To complete the purchase, the payer needs to know the full email address of the Google Play account used to send the purchase request.
- The payer can view the item you purchase and can request and receive a refund.
- After 24 hours, the payment link expires.
Purchase for someone else (Payer)
- Open the payment link shared with you by the person who asks you to make the purchase.
- Tap Continue.
- Enter the email address of the person who asks you to make the purchase.
- Tap Next.
- Select the payment method you want to complete the purchase with.
- To complete the payment, tap Buy.
- When you complete the purchase, check your Google Account for email confirmation.
- You’ll find the purchase reflected in your Google Play Order History, but you won't receive the item. Only the person who made the request will receive the item.
Tips:
- The item you pay for won't be available to you through your Google Play account. Only the person who sent you the request will receive the item.
- Your payment method and email address isn’t visible to the requester.
