To protect users under 18 years of age from content that is not age-appropriate, our Age-Restricted Content and Functionality policy requires dating and matchmaking apps to use the Restrict Minor Access feature in Play Console.
The policy may not apply to apps where the core functionality is not facilitating dating or matchmaking that include incidental dating or matchmaking features, provided these apps adopt appropriate minor protections and age-gating safeguards to prevent minors from accessing such mature features.
Implementing Age-Gating Safeguards
We do not mandate specific age-gating technologies. As the developer, you are free to choose the method that is most appropriate for your app as long as it reasonably prevents minors from accessing the age-restricted dating or matchmaking content and functionality of your app.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your age-gating mechanism is robust and effective. Simple age gates that can be easily circumvented may not be considered reasonable.
