Monitor your app and get recommendations on the Monitor and improve overview

The Monitor and improve overview page provides a comprehensive summary of your app's quality, technical performance, and user feedback. It is designed to help you quickly understand your app's health, identify any performance issues, see any policy issues affecting your app, view user ratings, and find personalized recommendations to improve your app's quality and stability.

This page can be reached either from the Dashboard or by selecting Monitor and improve in the left-hand navigation.

Understand the page structure

The Monitor and improve overview page is organized into sections to give you a clear and prioritized view of your app's health. At the top, you'll see your app's policy status, followed by key technical performance metrics from Android vitals, a summary of your ratings and reviews, and finally a list of personalized actions to take to improve your app.

See your app's policy status

At the very top of the page, you can see the current status of your app in relation to Google Play policies. If there are critical policy issues that may affect your app's status on Google Play, this will be highlighted. You can click on the arrow to the right to navigate to the Policy status page for more details.

Monitor your app's technical performance

This section shows you the top metrics from Android vitals, giving you an at-a-glance view of your app's technical stability and performance over the last 28 days, compared to the previous 28 days.

The following metrics are displayed, with some metrics being specific to apps or games:

  • User-perceived crash rate: The percentage of daily sessions where a user experienced at least one user-perceived crash.
  • User-perceived ANR rate: The percentage of daily sessions where a user experienced at least one user-perceived "App Not Responding" (ANR) error.
  • User-perceived LMK rate (displayed for games): The percentage of daily sessions whose device stopped some processes to reduce memory pressure at least once.
  • Slow cold start: The percentage of users who experienced a cold start-up time of more than 5 seconds.
  • Slow session rate (displayed for games): The percentage of sessions where a significant portion of frames rendered slower than 30 FPS.
  • Excessive slow frames (displayed for apps): For apps using the UI toolkit, this shows the percentage of daily sessions where more than 50% of frames were slow. This card will be hidden if no data exists.

The dotted line on each graph represents the data from the previous period (previous 28 days). You can click on any metric card to go to the Android vitals details page for a deeper analysis.

Understand your ratings and reviews

This section provides a summary of your user sentiment through ratings and reviews. It helps you quickly gauge how users perceive your app.

  • Average rating: The average star rating your app has received in the past 28 days.
  • Total users: The total number of users who have rated your app.
  • Ratings with reviews: The total number of ratings that include a written review.
  • Top 5 review summary topics: A card summarizing the most common themes found in your user reviews. This card is only displayed when your app has received enough reviews for an analysis.

Improve your app with the "Take action" list

The "Take action" section provides a prioritized list of issues, warnings, and opportunities to address to improve your app's quality. This list is personalized to your app to help you focus on the most important items to ensure it is of high-quality.
