Watch asks me to install calendar when it's already installed

Any time I ask Google Assistant to remind me to do a thing it replies that it will, and then says something along the lines of "also, to make sure you get notifications, install Google Calendar on your watch."
But, I already have Google Calendar installed on my watch.
Is there any way to put a stop to this nuisance (other than the usual reboot/reset/reinstall voodoo, which I try before requesting assistance)?

Do you get the expected actions even though you don't (re)install Calendar?

Yes, reminders have worked as expected all along.
Strangely, I set a reminder today and did not get the irritating request to install Calendar. Yet, I haven't changed anything.
So, presumably a bug which will never be resolved (and might well recur).
