How to use Gemini on your Google Pixel Watch

Important: This feature works only with personal Google Accounts (not work or school accounts).

With Gemini on Google Pixel Watch, you can turn your smartwatch into a smart, helpful, and personalized companion. Gemini will help you navigate your day as an always-available assistant, all from your wrist.

Activate Gemini on your watch

To use Gemini on your watch, make sure:

To confirm Gemini is installed on your watch:

  • Press and hold the button located above the crown on your watch.
    • If Gemini is installed and set up, it should launch directly or prompt you to complete the setup process for Gemini.
  • Press the crown on your Pixel Watch. This will open your app list.
    • Scroll through the list of applications on your watch and tap Gemini.
    • If Gemini is installed, you'll find it as an app.

Once activated, you can open Gemini on your watch in a couple of ways:

  • Press and hold the button located above the crown on your watch.
  • Tilt your wrist and use the hotword "Hey Google." Your watch screen needs to be active to use the hotword.
  • Tap on the Gemini complication on your watch face.
  • Pixel Watch 4 and 5: You can activate Gemini by raising your wrist and speaking without saying “Hey Google”. Your watch will show a mini glow on the bottom of the watch face to indicate that you’re ready to speak. Activate Gemini with Raise to talk.
    • Tip: The watch must be close to your mouth before you talk.
    • To enable this feature: On Google Pixel Watch, tap Settings and then Gestures . Then, turn on Raise to talk.

Tip: Check individual app settings on your mobile device to customize your Connected Apps and personalization settings. Learn how to use & manage Connected Apps in Gemini, and how to get personalization with memory of your past Gemini chats.

Add shortcuts to your Gemini tile to quickly access actions.

  1. Swipe to the Gemini tile on your watch face.
  2. Tap Add new Gemini actions.
  3. Choose or create: You can either pick from recommended actions or create your own custom action.
    • Create custom action: If you choose to create your own, tap the Mic or Keyboard. From there, you can define actions such as open your music app, set a timer, and more.
  4. Confirm Action: Once you've created or chosen an action, a confirmation prompt will appear. Tap the check mark to save it.

Track your workouts and daily stats with your voice with Gemini

Use Gemini to start and control your workouts or check your health metrics with your voice. Press and hold the button above the crown or say "Hey Google" to ask Gemini to perform actions like:

  • Control your exercise: Start, pause, resume, or end an activity. For example, say “start my run.”
  • Get your live health metrics: Ask "What's my heart rate?" or "What's my step count?" to check your current stats in the Google Health app.

Learn about Offline Gemini

Important: This feature is only available on Google Pixel Watch 5.

Update to the latest Gemini app by accessing the Play Store on your watch. You need to be on version 1.36 or later of Google Gemini on Wear OS.

Offline Gemini enables you to use Gemini for basic voice actions, like to set a timer or start tracking a run, even when the watch doesn’t have an internet connection. This may come in handy if you leave your phone behind when going for a run or when you lose internet connection.

To use this feature:

Turn on Airplane Mode on the watch and make sure WiFi and Bluetooth are turned off. Start Gemini on the watch and ask it for basic device actions.

Here are examples of questions you can ask Gemini while offline:

  • Set timers and alarms: “Set a timer for 15 minutes”
  • Toggle Modes: “Turn on Water Lock”
  • Control Settings: “Turn WiFi on”
  • Open Apps: “Open my Keep notes”, “Open Maps”, “Turn on flashlight”
  • Track Workouts: “Start my run”
  • Control Music: “Skip this song” or “Turn the volume up”

Note: Check responses for accuracy; results may vary.
