You can make calls and send text messages from your Google Pixel Watch1. During set up, you can approve access to your phone's contact list by managing the linked Google Account on file.
If you can't make calls or receive SMS or MMS messages, go to Fix phone call and text message issues on Pixel Watch.
Check requirements
- Cellular service for your phone.
- For Google Pixel Watch LTE:
- Cellular service for your watch.
- Tip: Google Pixel Watch LTE doesn't require you to have a new number but you need to set up a separate line. Your watch will have the same number as your phone once you pair them and activate 4G LTE with a compatible carrier.
- For Google Pixel Watch Wi-Fi:
- Connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Your phone is physically close. You can't make or receive calls or send and receive texts unless your phone is nearby.
Verify that your Google Pixel Watch has a cellular plan
- On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down then tap Settings
.
- Tap Connectivity
Mobile.
If you don't see a Mobile setting, your watch doesn't have cellular service. You must have a Google Pixel Watch LTE to get cellular service on your watch. You must use the same carrier for both your watch and phone service.
Verify Google Pixel Watch Wi-Fi's Bluetooth connection
- On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down then tap Settings

- Tap Connectivity
Bluetooth.
- Turn on Bluetooth.
- Make sure your nearby phone is connected to Bluetooth as well.
Manage phone calls
Make and receive calls with Google Pixel Watch using the built-in microphone and speaker or Bluetooth-connected headphones.
A nearby phone isn't required to make or receive a call with Google Pixel Watch 4G LTE.
- On your Google Pixel Watch, press the side button next to the crown.
- Scroll then tap Contacts.
- Select or search for a contact name.
- Tap the chosen contact name.
- To place a call, tap the phone next to their number

Missed calls
If you have missed calls that you haven't gotten notifications for, make sure that you're not muting call notifications.
- On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down.
- Make sure that the modes that pause notifications are turned off.
Can't make outgoing calls
- Confirm that all steps were fully completed during setup.
- Check your connection to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi or LTE.
Transfer live calls to your Pixel Watch from your phone
- On your Google Pixel Watch, tap the phone
at the bottom of the watch screen.

Send and receive text or SMS messages
With the Android messaging app set as the default messaging client on your phone, you can send and receive text and SMS messages on Google Pixel Watch.
Tip: Google Pixel Watch syncs texts with your phone so your connected phone must be online.
Type and send a text or SMS message
Answer a message or tap a contact's name on your watch.
- On your Google Pixel Watch, press the crown.
- Scroll then tap Contacts.
- Select or search for a contact name.
- Tap the chosen contact name.
- To draft a message, tap the message box next to their number
.
Use Smart Reply (English only) to quickly respond to messages by tapping on a suggested response.
Tip: Smart Reply responses are available for text and SMS messages only. Smart Reply isn't currently available for responding to email messages.If you have trouble sending or receiving messages, make sure that your phone and watch meet the requirements.
Use Google Assistant to call or text
To make and answer a call, tap a contact's name on your watch or ask Google Assistant.
To send a text or read and reply with swipe actions, ask Google Assistant.
