LG TV does not show as available device for casting

Hi there:

I just got a new Pixel Tablet 2023 (Android 13). I am trying to cast to my LG C1 TV, but it does not show up in the list of devices (my Onkyo receiver does, however).

I can cast to my TV from my OnePlus 7T (Android 12), and I can cast from my iPad Air 2 (iPad OS 15.x).

Any ideas/help on why my LG does not show up as an available device from my Pixel, docked or undocked?

TIA

Your OnePlus 7T and your LG TV both use Miracast.

Those apps don't enable Miracast on Pixel devices.

You can only cast with the Pixel Tablet using the Chromecast or DIAL protocols. If you are attempting to cast to a device that does not have a Chromecast built-in or connected, you will not be able to cast or mirror from the Pixel Tablet to that device.

If you have a smart TV, certain apps, like Netflix and YouTube, can cast via DIAL if they are installed on both the TV and your Pixel. You will need to launch the app on your Pixel, then cast from the app. However, DIAL is really just an app remote control.

Hello shmengie,

Thanks for reaching out. Did you check to ensure that you're connected to the same network?

Awaiting your response. :)

Hello shmengie,

Thanks for your response. Doing a quick search on the TV brand and model, it looks like it does not have a built-in Chromecast. Can you verify that?

If it indeed does not have a built-in Chromecast, you will need to get a Chromecast to be able to cast from the Pixel Tablet. thehouseofho provided more information below.

Hope that helps! :)
