When you subscribe to Google Play Pass, you'll get over 1,000 games and apps without ads or in-app purchases. Play Pass won't give you access to all of Google Play, just a selection of apps and games. Availability of games, apps and offers on Play may vary by country. Users in selected regions may also get:

Important: If you’re a family manager, note that all apps in Play Pass are available to all family members. Check the apps before you let a child in your family group install them.

Buy a subscription to Google Play Pass

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. At the top right, tap the Profile picture.
  3. Tap Play Pass and then Get started.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: You’ll only get charged at the end of your trial period. If you don’t want to be charged, cancel your subscription before the trial period ends.

Create a Family Library

With a Family Library, you can share a Google Play Pass subscription with your Google Play family group. Learn more about Google Play Family Libraries.

Important: If you aren't part of a family group, you must create one first.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. At the top right, tap the Profile picture.
  3. Tap Settings Settings and then Family and then Sign up for Family Library.
  4. To set up Family Library, follow the on-screen instructions.

Join a family and activate a Google Play Pass subscription

If you’re already part of a family group on Google and the family manager subscribes to Play Pass, you’ll need to activate your Play Pass before you can use it.
Important: You may need to accept the family group invitation by email or SMS before you can activate Google Play Pass. Find out more about joining a family group.
  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. At the top right, tap the Profile picture.
  3. Tap Play Pass and then Activate.
Tip: If you’re on a family plan, only the head of household will get the Play Pass offers.

Deactivate Google Play Pass

Only members of a family can activate or deactivate Play Pass. When you deactivate Play Pass, you only deactivate it for your account. Other family members can still use Play Pass.
  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. At the top right, tap the Profile picture.
  3. Tap Payments and subscriptions and then Subscriptions and then Play Pass.
  4. Tap Cancel subscription.
Tip: To unsubscribe from Play Pass, ask the family manager to cancel the subscription. When the family manager unsubscribes, family members will no longer have access to Play Pass unless they set up their own subscription.

Use games and apps in Google Play Pass

When you subscribe to Google Play Pass, you'll get over 1,000 games and apps without ads or in-app purchases.   1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  2. At the bottom, tap Play Pass.
  3. Select an app.
  4. If the app is part of Play Pass, at the top of the app's details page, you'll find a Play Pass logo.
Important: To find out how much developers in Play Pass earn, Google Play measures your Play Pass usage. We also provide developers with aggregated info on how people use their apps. We don't share your personal or individual usage information. You can cancel or deactivate your subscription at any time. When your subscription ends, usage measurement stops.
When apps leave Google Play Pass

If an app that you use or game you play leaves Play Pass:

  • Apps and games at no charge:
    • You can still use the app or game, but you may start to get ads or have to pay for in-app items.
  • Paid apps and games:
    • You can use the paid app or game for some time before you’ll need to buy the app or game separately, outside of Play Pass.
    • You can also uninstall the app.

Manage your Google Play Pass subscription

If you subscribe to Play Pass, you can use the Google Play app to:

  • Check when your plan renews.
  • Change a payment method.
  • Add a backup payment method.
  • Cancel your Play Pass subscription.

To manage your subscription:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. At the top right, tap the Profile picture.
  3. Tap Payments and subscriptions and then Subscriptions and then Play Pass.

Tip: Currently, you can’t pause your Play Pass subscription. If you uninstall an app that you download through Play Pass, it doesn't cancel your subscription. To cancel Play Pass:

  1. In the Play Pass subscription management screen, tap Cancel subscription.
  2. Follow the prompts.

What happens when you cancel your Play Pass subscription

After you cancel your Play Pass subscription, your subscription continues until its expiry at the end of your current billing cycle. You can still use your apps and games until then. When your subscription expires:

  • You lose access to the Play Pass tab on the Play Store app.
  • Games and apps you got from the Play Pass catalogue start to show ads and in-app purchases.
  • In-app items you received at no cost as part of your Play Pass subscription are removed. Single items are available for individual purchase through the app.
    • Items purchased in apps with a Play Pass offer aren't removed.
  • The expiry also applies to family members who activated the subscription.
  • Apps that you install from Play Pass before your subscription expires and their data stay on your device.
  • You can get prompts to buy the app or subscribe to Play Pass from paid apps.
  • If you're a Play Points member, you can lose Gold-level benefits in Play Points.
  • Any saved or active offers found in your Play Pass offers tab are removed. For more details, check the Play Pass offer terms.
  • If you renew your Play Pass subscription, you can use the apps and games again.
  • It affects your Google Play Family Library.
