Before you cast to your TV
-
Your phone or tablet cannot cast to your Cast-enabled device if it is connected to your mobile network. Your phone or tablet must be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
-
The smartphone, tablet or computer you are using to cast must be on the same home Wi-Fi network as your Cast-enabled device.
-
You must have the latest version of the supported app. You can visit Google Play or Apple App Store, check for any app updates, and update your app accordingly.
- Local Network must be enabled for mobile devices with iOS 14 or later and computers with MacOS 15 or later to discover Cast-enabled devices. Learn more about Local Network for casting.

Casting from the YouTube app and YouTube.com
-
Private videos, live content, and videos not approved for mobile playback will not work with your Cast-enabled TV.
-
Because YouTube uses adaptive bitrate streaming, videos may appear lower quality at first, then will switch to the highest possible quality after a few seconds. If the video does not buffer at playback speed, the video will be downgraded to a lower quality setting, allowing for smoother playback.
-
Casting from YouTube is supported from the YouTube app, from YouTube.com and most embedded YouTube videos.
-
If the Cast button doesn’t appear on YouTube.com, please double check that you have the Google Cast extension installed on your Chrome browser and ensure that your computer is on the same network as your Cast-enabled TV.
Casting from the Youtube Music app
-
Casting a song with Youtube Music is supported on your Android, iOS phone, tablet, YouTube Music web app, or music.youtube.com in a web browser.
-
Youtube Music doesn't play local content from your Android device to your streaming device. All playlists, radio stations, and individual songs must be hosted in the cloud or uploaded through the Music Manager before they can be cast.
-
If your device disconnects from the network, the playlist will stop after the current song ends, so double check your network if the playlist ends without any action on your part.
Casting from the Netflix app and Netflix.com
-
If the Cast button doesn’t appear on Netflix.com, please double check that you have the Google Cast extension installed on your Chrome browser and ensure that your computer is on the same network as your Chromecast.
-
If an error appears such as Error 16003, 16001, session_timeout or pairing_timeout, perform a factory data reset on your device and restart your Netflix app. Check our Frequently Asked Questions for information on how to perform a factory data reset.
