| Laptop mode |
Open the screen to a standard typing angle, up to 180°. | Your keyboard and touchpad are active. The screen stays in landscape orientation. Use apps in resizable desktop windows or full screen. |
|

Open the screen more than 180°. Or, push it all the way back. Hold your Googlebook horizontally. | Your physical keyboard and touchpad turn off automatically. Use the touchscreen or a compatible stylus. Your desktop windows stay in place. You can maximize an app. Or, make an app full screen. The device rotates to landscape by default. |
|
Tablet mode (Portrait) |

- With the on-screen Rotate button: If Auto-rotate is turned off, select the floating Rotate button in the corner of your screen to change the orientation.
Change how screen rotation works
When used in laptop mode, Auto-rotate is not applied to prevent unintentional screen movement. Once you switch to tablet mode, Auto-rotate activates automatically. You can easily adjust this feature through either Quick Settings or the Settings app.
Turn Auto-rotate on or off from Quick Settings- Open Quick Settings at the top right of your screen.
- Select the Auto-rotate tile
. This turns automatic rotation on or off.
Tip: If you cannot find Auto-rotate in your Quick Settings, you can add it. Learn more about Quick Settings.
- On your Googlebook, open the Settings app
.
- Select Device & accessories.
- Select Display.
- Select Auto-rotate screen.
- Turn Auto-rotate screen on or off.
