To create a more productive workspace, connect your Googlebook to an external display to extend your desktop or mirror your screen.
By default, connecting an external display extends your workspace so you can move windows freely across both screens. When you disconnect the monitor, your open windows automatically return to your Googlebook.
Rearrange the layout of your displays
- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app
.
- Select Devices & accessories
Display.
- Under “External devices,” select the external display you want to adjust.
- At the top, drag and drop the boxes to match how your monitors and Googlebook are arranged on your desk.
Mirror your device’s screen on an external display
If you prefer to show the same image on both screens, you can mirror your main screen on an external display.
- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app
.
- Select Devices & accessories
Display.
- Under “External devices,” select your external display.
- At the bottom of the screen, select Built-in display.
- Turn on Mirror built in-display.
Use an external display with your Googlebook closed
You can still use your Googlebook with a connected mouse or keyboard if Googlebook is plugged into an external monitor while its lid is closed. Your external display becomes your main display and you can wake up the device with your mouse and keyboard.
If you close the lid while connected to an external display with open windows, all the windows move to the external display. You can continue to navigate through your workspace with your mouse and keyboard.
Move a window between displays
If you connect an external monitor, you can move your work between screens.
- At the top of the app window, select and hold the title bar.
- Drag the window across the edge of your current screen.
- When it shows on the other display, release the window.
Tips:
- You can't drag windows between screens if one of the displays has an app in full-screen mode.
- You can perform window management activities on an external extended display the same way you can on an internal display. These activities include Resizing, Split screen, and Full screen.
