Your Googlebook runs on the operating system Googlebook OS.
To get the latest features and security improvements, update your Googlebook's operating system.
In your Settings app, you can find your Googlebook’s version number, security update status, and other info. You get notifications when updates are available for your device. You can also check for updates.
Updates can be large and take some time. Before you update:
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Charge your device to at least 75%.
Check your Googlebook’s version
- Open your Googlebook's Settings app

- Select About device.
- Find info about your:
- Device name and model
- Googlebook OS

Update your device from a notification
When an update is available for your Googlebook, you receive a notification. To update your device:
- Select the notification.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for updates in the Settings app
If you cleared your notification or your device was offline, you can also download and update your Googlebook’s operating system from the Settings app.
If you cleared your notification or your device wasn’t online:
- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app

- Select System
Software updates
System update.
- You can find the update status here.
- If your device needs an update, follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: Many devices automatically restart while they install downloaded updates. The updates become active when installation finishes.
Fix problems with updates
You can check these steps if your system update doesn’t download or your Googlebook is several versions behind the current version. Test your Googlebook after each step to check if this resolves the problem.
Connect your Googlebook to a charger- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app

- Select Network & internet
Internet.
- Confirm if you’re connected to a network.
- Below the network name, you can find "Connected."

If an update starts to download and doesn’t finish, your device automatically tries again over the next few days. When it tries again, you’ll get a notification.
- Open the notification.
- Select the update action.
Review what info goes to Google when you update
When your Googlebook checks for updates, it sends some info to Google, like the computer’s version number and language. This info isn't associated with you or your Google Account.
