Use magnification to zoom in on the screen to make content larger.
Use magnification
- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
- Select Accessibility
Magnification.
- On the right of your screen, turn on Magnification shortcut.
- Or, you can press Action
+ Alt + M.
- Or, you can press Action
Customize the way you turn on magnification
You can add methods to turn on magnification:
- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
- Select Accessibility
Magnification
Magnification shortcut.
- Select the checkbox for the options you want to use:
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Action
+ Alt + M.
- Magnification button: On the right side of your screen, select the Magnification button
.
- Accessibility gesture: Two-finger swipe from the bottom of your screen. To switch between features, two-finger swipe and hold.
- Only available if your device has a touch screen.
- Volume keys: At the top row of your keyboard or on the side of the screen, press and hold both volume keys.
- Triple tap: Quickly tap the screen 3 times. This shortcut may slow down your device.
- Only available if your device has a touch screen.
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Action
Magnify your full screen
- Turn on magnification with your preferred method.
- To indicate that magnification is on, an orange border appears around your screen.
- To change zoom level:
- With your keyboard: Press Action
+ Alt + + or -.
- With the slider:
- At the bottom right of your screen, select Settings
.
- Use the slider.
- At the bottom right of your screen, select Settings
- With your touchscreen: Pinch open or close.
- With your keyboard: Press Action
Tip: To turn off magnification, you can use your preferred way to turn it off.
Move around the magnified screen
After you’ve magnified the screen to your preferred zoom level, you can navigate around the zoomed in screen.
- With your mouse: Move your cursor and the magnified view follows.
- You can customize how the magnified screen follows your cursor.
- With your keyboard: Press Action
+ Alt + Arrow keys.
- With your touchscreen: On the magnified area, drag 2 fingers.
Magnify a portion of your screen
By default, magnification zooms in on your full screen. But you can choose to magnify only a portion of your window.
- Turn on magnification with your preferred method.
- To indicate that magnification is on, an orange border appears around your screen.
- At the bottom right of your screen, select Settings
.
- Under “Magnifier size,” select one of the window size options.
- To go back to full screen magnification, at the bottom-right corner of the magnified view, select Move.
- In the Magnification menu at the bottom-right of the screen, under “Magnifier size,” select Full screen.
When you’re in partial magnification, you can move the magnified view and change the zoom level.
- To move the magnified view:
- With your mouse: Drag the magnified view border.
- With your keyboard: Press Action
+ Alt + Arrow keys.
- With your touchscreen: Tap and drag the magnified view border or on the magnified area, drag 2 fingers.
- To change the zoom level:
- With your keyboard: Press Action
+ Alt + + or -.
- With the slider:
- At the bottom right corner of the magnified view, select Move.
- In the Magnification menu at the bottom-right of the screen, use the slider.
- With your touchscreen: On the magnified area, pinch open or close.
- With your keyboard: Press Action
Customize your magnification settings
You can customize how magnification works on your device.
- Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
- Select Accessibility
Magnification.
- Change how magnification works.
- Magnification shortcut: Add or remove methods to enable magnification.
- Magnification type: Switch between full screen or partial magnification.
- Magnify keyboard: Find emojis and letters in full screen magnification when you zoom into the on-screen keyboard.
- This is available only for devices with detachable screens while the physical keyboard is disconnected.
- Follow typing: The magnified view follows text as you type.
- Follow keyboard focus: The magnified view follows the focused item as you navigate with keyboard.
- Cursor following: Choose how the magnified view follows your cursor. Only when you're magnifying the full screen.
- Keep on while switching apps: Magnification stays on when you switch apps.
