The Diagnostics app checks your Googlebook for hardware, software, and connection problems, including issues with the battery, CPU, memory, Wi-Fi, media, and input devices.

Open Diagnostics

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. On the left, find the different categories that you can run diagnostic tests for.

Learn Diagnostics categories

Overview

Here you can find information about your device’s battery usage, CPU usage, and memory.

Battery usage

You can find information about your Googlebook’s battery health, cycle count, or remaining usage time. To diagnose battery and charging issues on your Googlebook, you can run a charge or discharge test.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Overview.
  3. To start the test, under “Battery usage,” select Run Discharge or Run Charge test.
    • If the rate of charge and discharge is very low, there may be a problem with the battery or charging port.

CPU usage

Important: CPU tests can stress the device and make regular use difficult. Your device may run slowly and tests may take a long time to run.

CPU tests help you find information about your CPU consumption, current usage, temperature, and speed.

Use the CPU graph

The CPU graph is a chart that monitors the CPU usage of your Googlebook. This can help troubleshoot performance issues and identify which applications use the most CPU resources. The CPU graph can also be found in the Task Manager app.

Run CPU tests

Run a CPU test to get more info on stress capacity, cache status, floating point accuracy, and prime search.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Overview.
  3. To start the tests, under “CPU usage,” select Run CPU tests.

The results are:

  • Stress test: This mimics high-load situations that are CPU-intensive.
  • Cache test: This measures cache coherency.
  • Floating point accuracy test: This repeatedly performs floating point operations against preset values to check for accuracy.
  • Prime search test: This checks your CPU calculation of complex prime numbers.

Memory

You can find information on how your device’s memory is used. You can run memory tests to measure system memory and identify memory faults.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Overview.
  3. To start the test, under “Memory,” select Run Memory test.
Connectivity

Here you can find information about the state of your internet connection, including Wi-Fi and Ethernet, if available.

Run a connectivity test

You can run a test on the active network you’re using.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Connectivity and then the connection type you’re using.
  3. At the bottom right, select Run Connectivity test.
Input

Here you can run tests to identify if your keyboard, touchpad, or touchscreen are malfunctioning.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Input.
  3. Beside the input type you want to test, select Test.
Camera

Here you can run tests to check camera functionality and video quality.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Camera.
  3. To run a test, select Run Camera test.

Tip: If your device has both a front and back camera, you can switch between them and test both.

Audio

Here you can test your device’s microphone and speakers for functionality and quality.

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Diagnostics app .
  2. Select Audio.
  3. You can:
    • Test your microphone: Select Run Microphone test.
