Type with your voice on Googlebook

On your Googlebook device, you can talk to write in most places where you can type with a keyboard.

Important: Talk-to-text doesn't work in all languages.

Turn voice typing on & set your dictation type

1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app .
2. Select Devices & accessories Keyboard Keyboard apps.
3. Select gBoard Voice typing.
4. Turn on Use voice typing.
5. Under "Dictation type," select Standard.

Talk to write

1. On your Googlebook device, open any app that you can type with, like:
   • Gmail
   • Keep
2. Select an area where you can enter text.
3. On your keyboard, press Alt + D.
4. When the "Speak now" prompt appears, say what you want to write.

Tip: To type with your voice, use Advanced voice typing.

Add a punctuation

You can add punctuation to your text with different phrases, though this might not be available in all languages.

Some punctuations you can use are:

• Comma
• Exclamation point
• New line
• New paragraph
• Period
• Question mark

Replace a word

1. On your Googlebook device, open the document or message with the word you want to change.
2. Select the word you want to change.
3. On your keyboard, press Alt + D.
4. When the "Speak now" prompt appears, say the new word.

Use the voice toolbar

1. On your Googlebook device, open any app where you can type, like:
   • Gmail
   • Keep
2. Select an area where you can enter text.
3. On your keyboard, press Alt + D.
4. When prompted, select a recording option:
   • While using app: Allows voice recording every time you use the app.
   • Only this time: Allows voice recording only once.
   • Don’t allow: Doesn't allow voice recording when you use the app.

Tips:

• To pause voice recording, select Microphone .
• To add an emoji, say any emoji or in the toolbar, select Emoji . Then select the emoji that you want to use.
• To use voice commands, say a command or select one of the suggestions in the toolbar.

Switch to a different language

Important: Multiple languages should be enabled. Learn how to add keyboards.

1. At the bottom left of the toolbar, select the abbreviation for your default language.
2. Select a language.
