Connect to Wi-Fi on your Googlebook

To connect to the Internet, turn on your Googlebook's Wi-Fi and use a compatible network.

When you have Wi-Fi turned on, your device automatically connects to nearby Wi-Fi networks you've connected to before. You can also set your device to automatically turn on Wi-Fi near saved networks.

Turn on & connect to Wi-Fi

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
  3. Select a listed network.
    • Networks that require a password have a lock icon .

Tip: After you connect, the network is “Saved.” If your device is nearby and Wi-Fi is on, it connects automatically.

Connect through notification

If Wi-Fi is on, you get notifications for high-quality public networks.

  • To connect to the network: Select Connect.
  • To change Wi-Fi settings: Select All Networks.
  • To stop notifications for that network: Clear the notifications. Learn how to control notifications.
Connect from Quick Setting
  1. At the top right, select Wi-Fi and then Internet.
  2. Select a network from the listed option.

Tip: To get a better connection, quickly switch networks in the Quick Setting. Your preference is saved temporarily.

Compare networks strength
  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
    • The network’s signal strength is on the Wi-Fi . A fuller icon means a stronger signal.
Disconnect Wi-Fi
  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
  3. Next to your connected Wi-Fi network, select Wi-Fi settings and then Disconnect.

Change, add, share, or remove saved networks

Change a saved network
  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
    • To move between listed networks: Select a network name.
    • To change a network’s settings: Select the network.
Add a network

Option 1: Wait for the network list to reload

  • If the network you want isn’t listed but is nearby, wait for the list to refresh.

Option 2: Add network

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.

  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
  3. At the bottom of the list, select Add network.
    • Enter the network name (SSID) and security details.
    • If the network you add is hidden or the network ID isn't broadcast:
      1. Select Advanced options.
        • Turn on Share this network with other device users.
        • Turn on Allow other users to edit network configuration.
      2. Under “Hidden Network,” select Yes.
  4. Select Save.

Option 3: Add network through QR code

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.

  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
  3. At the bottom of the list, select Add network.
  4. Beside the “Network name,” select Scan QR code .
  5. Scan the QR code.

Tip: Networks added through this flow default to private. To share the network, you can change your settings.

Share Wi-Fi info
  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
  3. Make sure that Wi-Fi is on and you’re connected to the network you want to share.
  4. Select your Wi-Fi network and then Share.
  5. Your device gives you a QR code.
    • To join the same network, have your friend scan the code.
Forget a network
  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app.
  2. Select Network & internet and then Internet.
  3. Select a saved network.
  4. Select Forget.
