You can stay in touch with your friends and family when you send texts through Google Messages. You also get access to features like high-quality photos, videos, read receipts, and enhanced group chats.
Set up Google Messages on your Googlebook
- On your Googlebook, open Google Messages

- Your Google Account:
- Select your Google Account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- QR code:
- Select Pair with QR code.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Emoji:
- On your device that already has Google Messages, open the Messages app.
- Select the emoji that you can find on your Googlebook.

You can find your recent conversations in the Google Messages app.
- On your Googlebook, open Google Messages
- Select Start chat.
- Enter the name, phone number, or email of the person you want to message.
- To send a text: Enter your message in the text box.
- To share media: Select Attach media.
- When RCS chats are on, you can send higher-quality photos and videos.
- Select Send.
Tip: To react to a message, hover over the message and select an emoji.
Start a conversation with your contactsIf a contact already exists on your phone, you can find it in your Google Messages. You can also add a new contact directly in the app.
- On your Googlebook, open Google Messages
- Select Start chat.
- Enter the name, phone number, or email of the person you want to message.
- Enter your message.
- Select Send.
- On your Googlebook, open Google Messages
- Select a group conversation with the number you want to add as a contact.
- Select More

- Open a conversation with the person you want to change notifications for.
- Select More
Tip: You can turn notifications on or off for a person. You can also edit advanced display settings for notifications on your device.
You can send replies to messages. When you reply to a specific message, your response quotes the original message.
- On your Googlebook, open Google Messages
- Touch and hold the message you want to reply to.
- Select Reply.
- Enter your message.
Tip: If you use a Googlebook, you can read message replies, but you can't send them. To send replies, turn on Chat features. Learn more about chat features.
Find messages, photos, places & more
Search within your messages- On your Googlebook, open Google Messages
- Select Search.
- Enter your search terms.
- To narrow your search, use filters.
Tip: To remove previews, turn off link previews in settings.
