Connect your Bluetooth accessories to your Googlebook with Fast Pair

When you put your Fast Pair-enabled accessory in pairing mode, it's automatically detected by your Googlebook and a notification will pop up to allow you to pair it. Fast Pair associates your Bluetooth accessories with your Google Account. This allows your other connected devices to recognize newly added accessories and prompt you to pair with them automatically.

Before you begin

To connect your devices and accessories, make sure you have:

  • A Googlebook that has Bluetooth on.
  • An accessory that works with Fast Pair.
    • To know if an accessory works with Fast Pair, check their box. Majority of these accessories have "Made by Google" or "Made for Google” on their boxes. Find accessories in the Google Store.

Set up Fast Pair scanning

By default, you’ll receive notifications for nearby Fast Pair-enabled accessories that you can pair with your Googlebook. To check your settings:

  1. Open the Settings app .
  2. Select your Google Account and then All services.
  3. Under "Connected devices & sharing," select Devices.
  4. Turn on Scan for nearby devices.

Tip: To automatically save devices to your profile:

  1. Select Saved devices.
  2. Turn on Automatically save devices.

Pair a new accessory for the first time

Important: Your devices stay paired until you unpair them.

  1. Turn on your Fast Pair accessory and put it in pairing mode.
    • Make sure your accessory is near your Googlebook.
  2. When you get a notification on your Googlebook, select Pair.
    • The accessory will be saved to your Google Account. Other devices that are logged into the same account recognize it and prompt you to pair it automatically.

Tips:

  • If the accessory has an app on Google Play, select Download. This opens the Google Play Store to download the app.
  • If the accessory needs to be set up, select Set Up.

Delete Fast Pair accessories

To find and delete Fast Pair accessories that are saved to your account:

  1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app .
  2. Select your Google Account and then All services.
  3. Under "Connected devices & sharing," select Devices.
  4. Select Saved Devices and then the accessory you want to remove from your account and then Forget.

This accessory will no longer be associated with your Google Account.

Fix problems setting up or connecting to Fast Pair devices

If you can’t pair your device:

  • Make sure that your device is turned on and in pairing mode. Then, try again.
  • If the issue persists, go to your Googlebook’s Settings app and try to pair your device to Bluetooth manually.
  • If you have previously added the device to your Google Account and don’t find a notification, search for the device.
    1. Open your Googlebook’s Settings app .
    2. Select your Google Account and then All services.
    3. Under "Connected devices & sharing," select Devices.
  • Check that you’re close to the device. Your Googlebook needs to be within 0.5 meters or 1.6 ft of accessories that work with Fast Pair.
  • Make sure that your Googlebook has Bluetooth on.
