About your Google Ads account limits

Your account has maximum limits on areas like the maximum number of keywords you can have. While you'll likely never notice them, keep these limits in mind when planning your future advertising efforts.

This article lists limits for several key areas of your Google Ads account.

Brand list limits

  • 10,000 brand lists per account
  • 10 brand lists per campaign
  • 5,000 brands per brand list

Campaign and ad group limits

  • 10,000 campaigns per account (includes active and paused)
  • 20,000 ad groups per campaign
    • Note: Local campaigns and App campaigns are limited to 100 ad groups per campaign.
  • 20,000 ad group targeting items per ad group
  • 100 Performance Max campaigns per account
  • 25 maximum campaign drafts

    • Note: A new campaign will not get published or created if the account already has 25 drafts in the account


Ad limits

  • 300 image or gallery ads per ad group
  • 50 active text and non-image/gallery ads per ad group
  • 4 million ads per account (includes active and paused)
  • 3 enabled responsive search ads per ad group
  • 1,000 listing groups per asset group (Performance Max)
  • 5,000 product groups

Targeting limits

  • 5 million ad group targeting items per account (such as keywords, placements, and audience lists)
  • One million campaign targeting items per account (such as location targets and campaign-level negative keywords)
  • 10,500 location targets per campaign, targeted and excluded, including up to 500 proximity targets per campaign
  • 20 shared placement exclusion lists per account, with a maximum of 65,000 exclusions per list
  • 65,000 account-level placement exclusions per account (separate from your list, campaign, and ad group exclusions)
  • 128,000 total placement exclusions per ad group (this includes the total of your account, list, campaign, and ad group exclusions)
  • 3 placement exclusion lists for each manager account, with a maximum of 250,000 exclusions per list, totaling 750,000 placement exclusions. You can only apply these manager account lists at an account-level to sub-accounts.
  • 5 placement exclusion lists for each client account including a manager account, with a maximum of 250,000 exclusions per list. This limit is separate from the 20 placement exclusion lists that can be created within a client account and applied to itself.
  • 11,000 shared budgets per account
  • 25,000 Dynamic Search Ad targets per account
Note: In Google Ads UI, at most 5000 placements can be added at one time. You can add more placements (refer to the limits above) in increments. Through the API, 20,000 placements can be added at a time.

Negative keyword limits

  • Each Google Ads manager account can have a maximum of 20 lists, and each child account can have up to 20 lists of its own.
  • 5,000 keywords per negative keyword list (Manager account or child account)
  • 10,000 negative keywords per campaign
  • A maximum of 1,000 negative keywords can be applied to Display Network and Video campaigns

Limits for business data and feeds

  • 40 responsive search ads (RSA) ad customizer attributes
  • 5 million keyword customizers and 5 million ad group customizers per account
  • 90 characters per customizer value

  • Page feeds: Limited to 180 page feeds
  • Dynamic custom feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic custom feeds
  • Dynamic education feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic education feeds
  • Dynamic real estate feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic real estate feeds
  • Dynamic hotel and rentals feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic hotel and rentals feeds
  • Dynamic local feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic local feeds
  • Dynamic flights feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic flights feeds
  • Dynamic travel feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic travel feeds
  • Dynamic jobs feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic jobs feeds
  • Local product asset feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic local product asset feeds
  • Local product auto asset feeds: Maximum of 110 dynamic local product auto asset feeds

Assets Per Feed Limits

  • Page feed asset set: Up to 16 million assets in a page feed
  • Dynamic custom feed asset set: Maximum of 21 million assets
  • Dynamic education feed asset set: Maximum of 5 million assets
  • Dynamic real estate feed asset set: Up to 5 million assets
  • Dynamic hotels and rentals feed asset set: Maximum of 3.24 million assets
  • Dynamic local feed asset set: Up to 900,000 assets in this feed
  • Dynamic flights feed asset set: Feed's limit is 2 million assets
  • Dynamic travel feed asset set: Up to 1.5 million assets
  • Dynamic jobs feed asset set: Maximum of 3.8 million assets
  • Hotel center asset set: Limited to 50,000 assets
  • Hotel property asset set: 100 assets per hotel property
  • Local product asset set: Maximum of 700,000 assets
  • Local product auto asset set: Maximum of 700,000 assets
  • Travel feed asset set: Limited to just one asset

Location-Specific Asset Set Limits

  • Location asset sets per campaign: A maximum of 20 location assets set to a single campaign
  • Location asset sets per ad group: A single ad group can have up to 20 location asset sets
  • Location asset sets per asset group: An asset group is limited to a maximum of 5 asset sets
  • Location asset sets per customer: A maximum of 20 linked location asset sets to your account

Asset Limits for Page feeds

  • Page feed asset set assets: An account has a default limit of 5 million assets across all page feeds. This can be increased to a higher limit of 50 million.

Customizers

This section directly addresses the limitations and capabilities of customizers:

  • 90 characters per customizer value
  • 5 million keyword customizers per account
  • 5 million ad group customizers per account
  • 40 responsive search ads (RSA) ad customizer attributes

Ad asset limits

  • 250,000 ad group-level assets per account
  • 50,000 campaign-level assets per account
  • 10,000 ad group-level assets per campaign
Example: Let's say you have one campaign with an asset containing 8 sitelinks. Then you add these same sitelinks to another campaign and also to 10 ad groups in a third campaign. Now, your account has 8 feed items, 2 campaign-level assets, and 10 ad group-level assets.

Manager account limits

All manager accounts can be linked to a maximum of 85,000 non-manager accounts, including both active and inactive or canceled accounts. The maximum number of active non-manager accounts your top-level manager account can be linked to is based on your accounts’ total monthly spend from over the last 12 months. Account linking limits

  • 500 Google Ads accounts per Merchant Center account

Account limits

You can't create more than 2,500 Google Ads accounts per week.


Connector limits

The Google Ads Data Manager has a limit of 100 connections across all destinations. As you can’t delete connections, you have to unlink an existing connection and reuse that connection for new conversion or audience actions.


Additional Limits

Notwithstanding the above, certain combinations of campaign or creative structures, or the rate and frequency at which they are created or updated may undermine the stability of our systems and processes thereby interfering (or attempting to interfere) with the functioning of our programs.

For example:

  • Generating a large number of ad groups or campaigns with few creatives or keywords in each
  • Generating responsive ads with significant combinations of creative content, assets, destinations or keywords
  • Updating campaign and creative attributes, such as targeting URLs, frequently or with a high rate of change
  • Uploading a large volume of keywords, ad groups, or campaigns across accounts
Note: If advertisers undermine the stability of our ads systems or processes, Google may implement immediate measures to maintain the stability of its systems, such as throttling or excluding specific ad entities. When appropriate, Google may issue a notification to involved advertisers with specific details to remediate the issue.
