Use Hotel Center feeds in your App campaigns

This article explains how to use Hotel Center feeds with your app campaigns for installs (ACi) to show dynamic, property-specific ads to potential customers.

By linking your Hotel Center feed, you provide your App campaign with valuable, real-time data about your hotel properties, including information, pricing, and images. This allows the campaign to automatically create a wider variety of relevant, feed-based ads that can serve across Google's network.

This feature is designed for travel advertisers such as online travel agencies (OTAs), direct hotel suppliers, and other businesses that manage hotel accommodations.

Benefits

  • Improve performance: Showcase your full inventory of properties to find new users and drive more app installs. On average, advertisers that add product feeds to their App campaigns achieve an approximate 10% uplift in installs.
  • Create richer ad experiences: Automatically display ads featuring specific hotel details, prices, and images, providing more relevant information to potential customers.
  • Increase efficiency: Leverage your existing Hotel Center feeds, eliminating the need to create and maintain separate business data feeds for your hotel inventory on App campaigns.

Before you begin

  • You must have an active Hotel Center account and an active App campaign for installs.
  • Deferred Deep Linking (DDL) is supported.
  • Supported campaign type: App campaigns for installs (ACi)
  • Supported platforms: Android and iOS
  • Supported ad inventory: AdMob and YouTube instream
  • Supported feed content: Hotel information, prices, and images. Hotel promotions are not supported at this time.

How it works

When you attach your Hotel Center feed to an App campaign for installs, the campaign uses your feed data as an additional input to guide its ad creation and targeting. The system can then serve dynamic ads featuring your hotel properties to interested users on supported networks.

For example, a user browsing content in an app on the AdMob network might view an ad showcasing several of your hotel properties relevant to their interests, complete with images and pricing information pulled directly from your feed.

Instructions

To attach your Hotel Center feed to an App campaign:

  1. If you haven't already, link your Hotel Center account to your Google Ads account.
  2. In your Google Ads account, navigate to the App campaign you want to attach your feed to.
  3. Select Settings in the left-hand page menu.
  4. Open the Data feed section.
  5. Check the box next to: Attach a feed to improve targeting and enable ads that feature your feed items.
  6. Select Hotel Center feed from the dropdown menu.
  7. Choose the specific Hotel Center feed you want to attach to this campaign.
  8. Select Save.
Note: A campaign can only use one feed type at a time. If you have a business data feed (BDF) attached, you must unlink it before you can attach a Hotel Center feed. If both a Hotel Center feed and a business data feed are attached to a campaign, the system will only use the Hotel Center feed for serving ads.

Reporting

After your Hotel Center feed is attached and serving, a feed performance card will appear on your campaign's Overview page. This card provides a high-level summary of performance metrics related to your feed, such as clicks and impressions. You can select "View feed detail" for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How is this different from using a business data feed?

Using your Hotel Center feed offers greater convenience, as it allows you to leverage an existing, actively maintained feed without the need for manual updates. Longer-term, we plan to introduce more travel-specific features and formats that will only be available with Hotel Center feeds.

Will using Hotel Center feeds in my App campaign compete with my Hotel Ads or Performance Max campaigns?

There is no risk of cannibalization. App campaigns with Hotel Center feeds run on different ad inventory than Hotel Ads. For other campaigns like Performance Max, we recommend running your app and web campaigns in the same Google Ads account to prevent them from competing against each other in the auction.

Can I view a performance report for my Hotel Center feed at the account (CID) level?

No. Performance metrics for Hotel Center feeds are only available at the campaign level, from the feed performance card on the campaign's Overview page.

Will adding a feed help my campaign exit the "learning" period faster?

While feeds provide valuable signals, their primary objective is not to reduce the initial learning period. Hotel Center feeds are designed to improve performance and increase impressions after a campaign has stabilized.
