Benefits

  • Increased transparency: Have better visibility into performance data to help you gain insights into individual product performance metrics like impressions, clicks, and click-through rate (CTR).
  • Informed optimization: Use data on which products perform best to refine your advertising strategy and product selections in your feeds.
  • Uniformed reporting: Have a more consistent reporting experience when you also create Performance Max, Shopping, or Video campaigns.

How it works

You can access product reporting at the campaign or ad group level of your app campaigns in the “Products” tab. The statistics table in the “Products” tab allows you to view detailed performance metrics for individual products sourced from your linked Google Merchant Center feeds.

How to access the Products tab

  1. Go to Campaigns within the Campaigns menu.
  2. Select a specific App campaign or ad group.
  3. In the page menu on the left, select the Products drop down and then Products.
  4. Select the Products tab.
Note: The "Products" tab will automatically appear for any eligible App campaigns at the campaign or ad group level when a Google Merchant Center retail feed is linked.

Performance metrics and columns

You can view the following types of information in the product reporting table:

Metrics

  • Clicks: A click is attributed to a product only if there’s direct interaction with a product element in the ad. Clicks on the ad title, install button, or elsewhere aren’t counted in the “Products” tab.
  • Click-through rate (CTR): CTR is the ratio of how often people who view your ad end up clicking it. It’s calculated by dividing clicks by impressions.
  • Impressions: When your ad with products is served, all products in the ad are counted as an impression.

Columns

  • Clicks
  • Click-through rate (CTR)
  • Impressions
  • Price
  • Product (Image and title)
  • Product ID

Considerations around product reporting in App campaigns

  • Unsupported metrics: Cost, Conversions, Avg. CPC, and other conversion-based metrics aren’t supported yet.
  • Account-level view: The report can’t be viewed at the account level. You must navigate to a specific campaign or ad group.
  • Report Editor availability: This report isn’t available in the Report Editor.

FAQs

Why can’t I find “Cost” or “Conversions” metrics data for my products in my App campaign?

Cost and conversion metrics for individual products aren't supported in App campaigns. This is due to the complexity of correctly attributing them across diverse ad formats. We currently only support engagement metrics such as impressions, clicks, and CTR.

Why can’t I find the “Products” tab for my App campaign?

There are a few reasons this could happen:
  • There’s no Google Merchant Center feed. Ensure a Google Merchant Center feed is linked to the campaign.
  • The “Products” tab can be accessed at the campaign or ad group level. Make sure you’re viewing a specific campaign or ad group, as this report isn’t available at the account level.

The number of clicks in the Products report is lower than the total clicks for my campaign. Is something broken?

It's important to note that the Products report strictly counts clicks made directly on a product in your ad. The campaign's total clicks incorporate all ad interactions, including clicks on the ad title or an install button. The resulting difference indicates engagement with non-product elements.

Why are the "Status", "Issues", and "Diagnostics" tabs missing? I can find them in my Shopping campaigns.

We don’t currently support all dimensions of shopping campaigns within the App's campaign tooling.

I removed or changed the Google Merchant Center feed linked to my campaign, why can't I view the products from the old feed in my report?

There are 2 reasons why you can’t view the products from your old feed in your report:
  • If you remove the Google Merchant Center feed linked to your campaign, you’ll no longer be able to view the product report.
  • If you change the Google Merchant Center feed linked to your campaign to a different Google Merchant Center feed, the products from the original feed will no longer appear in the report.

Can I access historical data after removing a Google Merchant Center feed?

If you anticipate that you might need access to historical data from your old feed, we recommend that you download a report before removing or changing the feed linked to your campaign. If the old feed is later re-attached to your campaign, historical data will also be restored.
