The bid strategy report will now include a timeline annotation to show when Bidding Exploration was active.

You will also see new traffic diversity metrics within the Bid Strategy report metric dropdown options. Note that traffic diversity metric options include unique Search categories with impressions, clicks and conversions. Select a date range long enough to view how these metrics improved over time as a result of Smart Bidding Exploration.

How to determine if Smart Bidding Exploration was successful

  • Use your campaign, experiment, or Bid Strategy report to monitor increases in conversion volume where Smart Bidding Exploration is enabled. 
  • Use the Bid strategy Report to review Traffic Diversity (Impressions generated by unique search categories, clicks generated by unique search categories, conversions generated by unique search categories). 
  • Use the Bid Strategy Report to monitor your target ROAS performance 
    • Average target ROAS will factor in the lowered ROAS tolerance for Smart Bidding Exploration along with additional elements (i.e. ad group level target or specific bid adjustments). 
    • Actual ROAS: Your Actual ROAS should be in close range of your lowered average target ROAS.
  • Measure performance over a longer period. Note: It’s recommended to run Smart Bidding Exploration for at least a 6 week period.
