Search volume, or search volume %, helps you identify which product categories are most in demand. This metric is relative to the categories you sell. For example, if you only sell mobile phones within the “Electronics” category, the search volume you’ll see for “Electronics” will represent the share of searches for “Mobile phones” specifically and “Electronics” in general in the market.
General searches for “Electronics” will only include searches that can’t be attributed to more specific categories within “Electronics”. For example, it won’t include searches related to “Desktop Computers”. Because this metric is relative to your account, the total search volume for your top-level categories will always add up to 100%, with the highest % values indicating the categories people are searching for most.
When viewing a product category at the account level, search volume is based on your shipping countries in Merchant Center. If you’re viewing a product category within a campaign, search volume will be based on the locations of the campaign, or if you selected “All countries and territories”, it will be based on your shipping countries in Merchant Center.
Note: Search volume is only accessible for periods beginning on or after February 21, 2023 and can extend up to two years into the past. Search interest data is only available for a number of supported countries today: Australia, Brazil, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Turkey, United States.
