Apply a recommendation

To apply a recommendation in Google Ads, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the Recommendations page within the Campaigns menu Campaigns Icon.
  2. Select View on the recommendation you want to use, then select Apply.
  3. To apply all recommendations of a specific type, select Apply all in the recommendation card.
Note: New keywords may need review and approval before they are eligible to trigger your ad.

All of the changes you’ve made by applying recommendations will appear in your account's "Change history" page. If you apply a recommendation in error, you can undo it on the "Change history" page within 30 days. Note that partial application of recommendations can't be undone.

Dismiss recommendations

You know your products and goals best. If a recommendation doesn't seem relevant to your ad campaign or appropriate for your advertising goals, you can dismiss a single suggestion within a recommendation.

  1. Go to the Recommendations page within the Campaigns menu Campaigns Icon.
  2. On the "Recommendations" tab, find the card you want to review, and select View recommendation to check the full details.
  3. If the recommendation is irrelevant, select Dismiss all. You can also dismiss a recommendation by selecting the 3-dot icon in the recommendation card, then selecting Dismiss all.

There are a few things to keep in mind about dismissing recommendations:

  • Dismissed recommendations can surface again after a preset amount of time that varies by recommendation if the campaign is still eligible.
  • If you dismiss a recommendation at the campaign level, we dismiss all recommendations of the same type for the chosen campaign. Other campaigns with the same opportunity might surface the recommendation type that you just dismissed.
  • Recommendations that are generated at sub-campaign level, like keywords or ad groups, can be dismissed at that level.
  • If you dismiss a recommendation at the account level, no such recommendation will surface for any campaign within the account until after a preset amount of time that varies by recommendation has passed.
  • Recommendations can be dismissed for 28 days or 60 days based on the reason for dismissal.
Note: Recommendation cards are only removed in Google Ads when you either apply or dismiss all of the bundled recommendations. If you partially accept recommendations, the card will appear in your account until you select Dismiss all. For example, if your recommendation card shows 10 keywords and you accept 5, you'll need to dismiss the recommendation to remove the card.

Undo dismissing recommendations

If you've unintentionally dismissed a recommendation or reconsidered, you can undo dismissing the recommendation from the "Recommendations" tab.

  1. Go to the Recommendations page within the Campaigns menu Campaigns Icon.
  2. Select the Dismissed bubble at the top section of the page.

Best practices for tracking performance

To track performance, wait some time before evaluating how your applied recommendations have affected your account’s performance.

Keep in mind, an applied recommendation could have a positive impact on your performance even if performance metrics worsen because of other changes you’ve made, seasonality and other factors.

Note: All of the changes you’ve made by applying recommendations will appear in your account's “Change history” page.
