You can create 30 second music tracks directly with Gemini Apps with Lyria, our AI music generator. Use text and uploaded photos or videos to describe the track you have in mind, Gemini Apps will create music and lyrics. When you’re done, you can download your completed track or share it with friends or on social media.
Important: This feature is gradually rolling out for the Gemini mobile app and may not be available to you yet.
What you need
To generate music with Gemini apps you need to:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be signed in with a personal Google Account or a supported work or school account. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
- Have Keep Activity on.
Create a music track
- On your Android phone or tablet, go to gemini.google.com.
- Below the text box at the bottom, tap Tools

- Tap Create music.
- (Optional) Upload images or videos for added context. Learn how to upload files.
- Enter your prompt to generate a 30 second track. Check tips for music generation prompts.
- On your Android phone or tablet,, open Gemini

Download or share your created track
Once you’ve generated a track, you can choose to save or share it:
Download your track:
- In the top right of the image for your track , tap “download”

- Choose whether to download the video with cover art (as MP4 or the audio-only file (MP3) to your Android phone or tablet.
Share your track:
- In the top right of the image for your track , tap “share”
.
- Copy the shareable link to send your track to friends or upload to social media.
About your created track
- Your generated music is delivered as a video file complete with custom cover art made with Nano Banana, tracks are currently up to 30 seconds
- Each generated track will have an embedded digital watermark to help identify it as AI-generated.
Tips for music generation prompts
- Start your prompt with words like write, compose, or create.
- Describe the genre of music you want such as modern country, hip-hop, indie rock, or big band swing. Optionally, you can specify which instruments should be included
- Include detailed info about the track. This can include the subject of the track, what the subject is doing, and the background or setting.
Music generation limits
- Limit notifications. There are limits for how many tracks you can create with Lyria. You’ll get a notification when you’ve exceeded the limit. You can upgrade your subscription or wait for your limit to refresh
- Users with a Google AI subscription have higher limits and can generate more tracks. Learn about Gemini Apps limits how to upgrade.
