Import from other AI platforms to Gemini Apps

You can bring over your preferences, remembered facts & details, and general contextual information (sometimes called  "memory") from other AI platforms. You can also choose to import your full chat history. This will allow you to continue chats that you started on another platform with Gemini Apps.

What you need

To import from another AI platform you need to:

  • Be signed in with a personal Google Account. This feature isn’t available if you sign in to a work, school, or supervised Google Account. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
  • Have access to another AI platform with your saved chats and memory.
  • Be 18 or older.

Important: This feature is currently not available in:

  • The EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
  • Gemini in Google Messages, Gemini in Chrome, or Gemini on Android XR.

Import memory

To import memory from another AI platform:

  1. Visit gemini.google.com.
  2. At the bottom left, click Settings & help   and then Import memory to Gemini.
  3. Copy the prompt provided by Gemini Apps.
  4. Visit the AI platform you want to export from. Paste the prompt you copied into a chat or input field.
  5. Copy the response from the other AI platform that contains memories about you.
  6. Return to Gemini Apps, paste the copied response into the designated text field, and click Add memory.

After your memory is imported, Gemini Apps will create a new chat thread and integrate this content to "remember" these details for future conversations. This helps Gemini Apps understand your context better, leading to more relevant and personalized responses.

Understand partial imports

If an import is interrupted, you will be notified, and some chats might be partially imported. If this happens, delete the import entry and try to import again.
