You can upgrade to Google AI Pro Ultra for expanded access to features and models in Gemini Apps. Gemini Apps upgrades are part of select Google One paid plans for personal accounts.

What you need

To use Gemini Apps with a Google AI plan, you must be 18 years of age or older.
For now, the Gemini app in Google AI Ultra is only available in the United States.

Gemini Apps has usage limits designed to ensure an optimal experience for everyone. This means we may at times have to cap the number of prompts and conversations you can have within a specific timeframe. Your capacity replenishes regularly, so you can get back to chatting with Gemini Apps soon.

The number of prompts you can use before hitting the limit varies and depends on factors like how long and complex your prompts are, the size and number of files you upload, and the length of your conversations with Gemini Apps.

Gemini Apps will notify you in the app when you are close to reaching your chat capacity for a given period.

How model limits work

Gemini Apps has more prompt and chat limits for more advanced models. If you reach your capacity limit for a specific model for a given period, you can switch to a different model until that limit is reached or your capacity limit is refreshed. Gemini app users with Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra have higher capacity limits for advanced models.

Gemini Apps will notify you when you're close to your limit based on your tier level. When you reach your limit, Gemini Apps gives you another notification that tells you when your limit will refresh.

There are daily limits for how many research reports you can generate. Report limits increase by Gemini tier level.

There are daily limits for how many videos you can generate. You’ll get a notification when you’re close to the limit. Users with Google AI Ultra have access to a more advanced video generation model in Gemini Apps.

What is a context window?

When you upload files to Gemini Apps, it needs to "read" the content to provide useful insights or answers. The context window is like the reading capacity. It determines how much content can be understood together at one time.

Why you might want a larger context window

A larger context window allows Gemini to read and comprehend more. For example, with a 1M token context window, Gemini can understand up to 1,500 pages of text or 30,000 lines of code.

If you exceed the context window, this could lead to responses that don’t take into account all the content provided or miss connections or details throughout the content. This is most relevant for prompts that require attention to many details scattered throughout large files.
