Manage your child's access to Gemini Apps

Children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) can sign into Gemini Apps. As a parent, you can manage your child’s Gemini settings, including turning it on or off, with Google Family Link.

If access is turned off, your child may get the message “Gemini isn’t available for your account” if they try to access Gemini Apps.

Important: We’re gradually releasing access to Gemini Apps for supervised accounts, so access might not be available to your child just yet. Some Gemini features may not be available for children and may vary by region.

Before your child uses Gemini Apps

Gemini is new and evolving, and can make mistakes. To help guide your conversations about using Gemini, learn more about generative AI and how it works.

Help your child think critically about Gemini’s responses:

  • Help your child understand that Gemini isn’t human. Even though it sometimes talks like a person, it can’t think for itself or feel emotions.
  • Show your child how to double-check responses.
  • Let your child know not to enter sensitive or personal info in Gemini.

Our filters try to limit access to inappropriate content, but they’re not perfect. Your child may encounter content you don’t want them to see.

How your child can access Gemini Apps

Learn how to set up “Hey Google” and Voice Match for shared devices.

If your child is unable to access Gemini Apps or gets an error message that “Gemini isn’t available for your account,” check your Google Family Link settings to make sure Gemini Apps is enabled.

You can also check that your child is trying to access Gemini Apps on an available device, or in an available language or region. For now, Gemini Apps are not available for users under 13 (or the applicable age in your country), in the UK, European Economic Area, and Switzerland.
