You can choose the language Gemini Apps display, and in certain cases, understand in Language settings. This setting changes the language for the menu, notifications, and other text in Gemini Apps. It also affects the languages that you can talk to Gemini in when you say “Hey Google” or use the mic in the prompt field. Regardless of this setting, Gemini Apps can understand and reply in any supported language when you type your prompt or speak in Gemini Live.
Important: Some features in Gemini Apps, like Gemini’s voice setting, aren’t available in all languages.
Change Gemini’s language
The Gemini mobile app uses the primary language set in your iPhone or iPad language settings. To change your language settings:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
- Tap General
Language & Region.
- Under "Preferred languages," tap Add Language.
- Select the supported language you want to add.
- Choose it as your primary language.
