You can conduct in-depth and real-time research on almost any subject with Deep Research in Gemini Apps. Learn more about Deep Research.
What you need
- For now, this feature isn’t available to users under 18.
- If you don’t have Gemini Advanced, there are more limits for how many research reports you can create.
- Deep Research is being released to users without Gemini Advanced gradually over the coming weeks. If you don’t have Gemini Advanced, Deep Research may not be available to you just yet.
- If you would like to create more research reports, learn how to upgrade to Gemini Advanced.

If you’re using a work or school Google Account, Deep Research is only available on the Gemini web app.

To use this feature, you must be signed in to Gemini Apps. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
Use deep research
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- Below the text box at the bottom, click Deep Research
.
- In the text box, enter a question or prompt that explains what you want to research.
- Click Submit
Start research
- Gemini creates a research plan for your topic.
- To update the research plan before you create a report, click Edit plan.
- When your report is ready, click View report.

Start research
Tips:
- It usually takes about 5-10 minutes to generate the report since Gemini analyzes many sources. For more complex reports, it may take longer.
- While you wait for the report, you can leave the chat. When it’s ready, Gemini will notify you:
- In the web app: Next to the chat thread with your completed report.
- In the mobile app: As a notification on your device. The notification may appear when your device is locked depending on your settings.
Find your research reports
Important: You can only find past research reports if your Gemini Apps Activity is on. Learn how to manage Gemini Apps activity.
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- If your chats are hidden, at the top, click Menu
.
- Under “Recent,” find your research chat.
Turn your research report into an Audio Overview
Important: Audio Overviews can only be created in English. You can submit uploaded files and prompts in any language supported by the Gemini web app or mobile app.
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- If your chats are hidden, at the top, click Menu
- Under “Recent,” select the chat with your research report.
- Click Open More
Research limits
In Gemini Apps, there are limits for:
- Daily research requests
- Number of research requests you can run at the same time
If you’re close to your limit, Gemini Apps notifies you how many research requests are left for the day.
