Generate & edit images with Gemini Apps

You can create captivating images in seconds with Nano Banana 2. From work, play, or anything in between, Gemini Apps can help you generate and refine images to help bring your imagination to life. For paid subscribers, Nano Banana Pro is also available to regenerate images.

What you need

  • This feature’s availability in any specific Gemini app is also limited to the supported languages and countries of that app.
  • This feature isn’t available to users under 18 (or the applicable age in your country) signed into their personal Google Account. If you are signed in to a school account, you may be subject to different access restrictions.

Tip: Nano Banana 2 is ideal to create personalized images such as when you want to view yourself with different hairstyles, picture yourself in different scenes or create memes.

Generate & review images

  1. On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Click Create image .
  3. Enter your prompt to generate an image with Nano Banana 2. Check tips for image generation prompts.

Edit images with Nano Banana 2

Important: Editing images isn't available to users under 18.

With Nano Banana 2, there are a few ways that you can edit images. For example, you can:

  • Edit an image that you generated in Gemini Apps.
  • Upload an image and ask Gemini to make edits.
  • Upload multiple images and ask Gemini to create a new image based on your uploaded images.
Find examples of how you can edit images.
  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. In the text box at the bottom, enter your prompt.
    • Tip: You can upload an image to edit or ask Gemini to edit a generated image.
  3. Click Submit .

Redo an image with Nano Banana Pro

Paid subscribers can use Nano Banana Pro to regenerate an image. Nano Banana Pro can provide additional detail, especially for images that use text rendering or for infographics. To use Nano Banana Pro:

  1. Create an image with Nano Banana 2.  
  2. At the bottom right, click More  and then  Redo with Pro.
Important:  If you reach your daily quota of Nano Banana 2 images, you can’t redo any additional images with Nano Banana Pro.

Download, share, or export a generated image

To download an image:

Hover over the image you want to download, and click Download full size

To export an image: 

  1. Under the image, click More  .
  2. Click Export to Docs .
  3. Open the doc to continue editing.

Important: Users under 18 on a school account won’t be able to export to Docs.

Tips for image generation prompts

  • Start your prompt with words like draw, generate, and create.
  • Describe the image style you want. Here are a few examples: photorealistic, charcoal drawing, watercolor painting, cartoon illustration.
  • Include a detailed visual description of what you want in the image. This can include the subject of the image, what the subject is doing, and the background or setting.

Why Gemini Apps might remove an image

Gemini Apps may remove images for prompts when our systems detect a possible violation of Google's Terms of Service, including the Prohibited Use Policy.
