You can connect, check, and track your medical records in the Fitbit app. Having your medical records all in one place can make it easier to understand your own health data. If you have a Fitbit Premium subscription, you can also choose to personalize your conversations with the personal health coach using the information from your medical records. Personal health coach can then summarize your synced medical records and show you new wellness insights.
This feature is currently in Public Preview.
Before you begin
Your data & privacy
- You can manage, export, remove access, or delete your data at any time. Learn how to manage your medical records data in the Fitbit app.
- The Fitbit app syncs your data from your healthcare provider, but it doesn’t share data back to that provider. Your official medical records remain with your provider.
- Google won’t use medical records ingested from your healthcare provider to personalize any offerings for you unless you consent to processing of your synced records for personalization.
Requirements
To add your medical records to the Fitbit app, you’ll need to:
- Sign in to the Fitbit app with a Google account.
- Be 18 or older, or the appropriate age in your country.
- Have medical records with a provider located in the United States.
- Use an Android phone that runs Android 14 or higher.
- Sync your own medical records only. You may not sync another person’s records to your Fitbit account, or to their own Fitbit account on their behalf, even if you manage their health care. Parents may not sync their children’s medical records.

There are three different ways to sync your medical records with the Fitbit app. You can set up a direct connection with your healthcare provider, automatically search for your healthcare providers after verifying your identity with CLEAR, or use Health Connect.
- Directly with your healthcare provider: You choose which providers to add. You’ll need to log in with each provider to set up the connection.
- Verify with CLEAR: After you verify your identity, Fitbit automatically searches for your medical records to sync with the Fitbit app.
- Health Connect: After setup, Fitbit automatically syncs all available medical records from Health Connect. You’ll need to set up Health Connect and review your app permissions so your healthcare provider apps can sync with Health Connect.
When syncing medical records directly, you choose which providers to link and, if permitted by the provider, which data types Fitbit can access.
- On your Android phone, open the Fitbit app
.
- Tap Devices
Apps and Services.
- Under “Add connections,” tap Medical records
Get started.
- Select or search for your healthcare provider and add your personal details.
- Tap Continue
Agree and link.
- Log in to your provider’s patient portal. Use the password and email or username you typically use to log in with that provider.
- Follow the prompts to complete the linking process.
- Optional: If you have Fitbit Premium, you can choose to personalize your personal health coach conversations using synced medical records data.
It can take up to a day for Fitbit to confirm your medical records. Once that’s done, you’ll receive a notification. The connection to your provider will expire and you’ll need to sign in again to continue syncing.
Important: Your medical records data may sync to the app through a Google partner. Once synced to Fitbit, your records are securely stored on Fitbit’s servers.
After you verify your identity with CLEAR, the Fitbit app will try to locate and sync your medical records data from all of your past healthcare providers.
- On your Android phone, open the Fitbit app
.
- Tap Devices
Apps and Services.
- Under “Add connections,” tap Medical records
Get started.
- Tap Get started, and the Quick connect banner.
- Tap Continue
Agree and link.
- Verify your identity with CLEAR. You’ll be asked to enter a few basic details like your mobile number, email address, a selfie, and a valid government-issued document like passport or driving license.
- Follow the prompts to complete the linking process.
- Optional: If you have Fitbit Premium, you can choose to personalize your personal health coach conversations using synced medical records data.
After you verify your identity, Fitbit automatically searches for your past healthcare providers on an ongoing basis. You’ll be notified when a provider is found. You may still need to log in and authenticate with each provider to start syncing your records.

tap the Health tab
.

Fix issues connecting your medical records
- Check your credentials: Ensure your personal details, username, and password for your healthcare provider's portal are entered correctly.
- Change information with your provider: If you’ve recently changed information that your provider has on file, like your first and last name or date of birth, you may need to contact your healthcare provider to update the information they have on file.
- Provider availability: Connections between the Fitbit app or Health Connect and your provider may not be supported yet. Check back later as we are constantly adding new providers.
- Age restriction: Remember that syncing medical records is not permitted for users under 18, or the appropriate age in your country. If you try to sync a minor’s records, you’ll need to disconnect medical records before you can start over and set up your own records.

For more help, check Why isn’t my data from Health Connect updating? Also, check the permissions of the third-party app you want to sync to make sure it can share data with Health Connect.
- Expired connection (direct healthcare provider sync only): If you can’t find recent medical records, the connection between your healthcare provider and the Fitbit app may have expired. Depending on the provider, your connection may expire frequently, such as after just one day or one week.
- To check for an expired connection in the Fitbit app, tap Devices

Syncing medical records is gradually rolling out to new countries and healthcare providers.
Fitbit often uses partners to sync your medical records. We currently support syncing in these regions through our local partners:
| Country or region | Partners used to sync medical records |
| United States | b.well |
Verification with CLEAR can fail for many reasons, including:
- You entered an incorrect phone number or email.
- You tried to verify with CLEAR from an unsupported region.
- Your government ID is expired.
- Your information didn’t match trusted sources.
