How to record a voicemail greeting
- On your iPhone, go to the Phone app

- Tap Voicemail
Greeting
Custom.
- Tap Record.
How to set a voicemail PIN
The first time you access your voicemail, you're prompted to set a new voicemail PIN.
Your voicemail PIN must be 4–8 non-sequential numbers and can’t contain:
- More than 2 sequential digits
- OK: 1287394
- Not OK: 123456
- Repetition
- OK: 1287394
- Not OK: 11111111 or 12121212
- The last 4 digits of your mobile number
If you include any of the above, you may receive a general voicemail error.
To set a new PIN:
- Go to Settings.
- Under "Apps," select Phone
Change Voicemail Password.
- Enter the new password.
Tip: If you forget your PIN, dial #793# from your iPhone to receive an SMS with a new 8-digit voicemail PIN.
How to set up Live Voicemail
A new feature in iOS 17 called Live Voicemail lets you read or listen to a voicemail while a caller leaves it. A transcript of the call appears on your screen. You can also choose to answer the phone in the middle of the voicemail.
To set it up:
- Go to Settings.
- In the Settings menu, tap Apps
Phone
Live Voicemail.
- To turn Live Voicemail off or on, tap Live Voicemail.
