To join the trial, you must add the Google Fi network as an eSIM on your unlocked, eSIM compatible phone.
Tip: "pSIM" stands for "physical SIM" and "eSIM" for "embedded SIM." An eSIM allows you to activate carrier services on your phone without the need to insert a physical SIM card.
Learn about the Google Fi trial
If you’re eligible, alongside your current service, you can try Google Fi at no charge for 7 days. The trial automatically renews after 7 days, and you can cancel your Google Fi trial anytime. The trial includes:
- Calls and texts within the US (territories not included)
- Unlimited data in the US (speed slows after 10 GB)
- Hotspot tethering
- Privacy and security features
To be eligible for the Google Fi trial, among other criteria you must:
- Be new to Google Fi
- Have an unlocked, eSIM compatible phone
Download the Google Fi app and follow the steps to activate. You get a new Google Fi phone number to try out on your phone. Your current phone number still works normally, and during the trial you can use Google Fi to call, text, and browse. To complete the sign-up process, submit a valid form of payment on fi.google.com.
Your trial ends at 11:59 PM PT on the 7th day after it started and automatically renews. You’re charged $50/month per person and automatically moved to the Unlimited Standard plan. The monthly charge can apply to your Google Fi bill. You can cancel anytime and opt out of the auto-renew.
To upgrade early and select a different plan:
- Go to your Google Fi account.
- Click Upgrade early.
Once you upgrade to a full Google Fi plan, you can:
Understand credit card charges
When you start your trial, Google Fi authorizes your credit card with a small hold. Your financial institution gets an authorization request from us and the hold is reflected in your financial account. This authorization is required to make sure your credit card is active.
Once we confirm that the card is active, this hold is automatically removed from your account. Your financial institution can specify when this action can happen.
You can cancel any time and opt out of the automatic renewal. If you cancel early, you can still enjoy the service at no charge until the trial period ends.
- Log in to your Google Fi account in the app or on fi.google.com.
- Under “Your subscription,” select Cancel subscription.
- Review the information on the cancellation confirmation page.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
