You can upload, open, share, and edit files with Google Drive. When you upload a file to Google Drive, it will take up space in your Drive, even if you upload to a folder owned by someone else.
Types of files
- Documents
- Images
- Audio
- Video
Upload & find files
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Drive app.
- Tap Add
File upload.
- Find and tap the files you want to upload.
- To select the file upload location, tap Location.
- Select the folder where you want the file to go.
Tips:
- If you upload a single file, you can find the:
- File thumbnail
- Name
- Upload location on the "Upload to Drive" screen
- If you upload multiple files, the location field is at the bottom of the "Upload to Drive" screen.
- To rename the file:
- Tap File Name.
- Enter the new file name.
- Tap Upload.
Convert documents into Google formats
If you want to upload files like Microsoft Word documents, you can change a setting to convert files.
Important: You can only change Google Drive settings from your computer.

You can choose to use your mobile data or only use Wi-Fi to transfer files.
