With Gemini in Google Pics, you can make creative adjustments with natural language prompts, modify text within images, and control photo composition by adjusting aspect ratio.

Edit images with prompts

Apply general edits with prompts

  1. On your computer, open an image on Google Pics.
  2. In the prompt text box, describe the changes you want. For example: "Desaturate the photo slightly and add cooler tones to shadows for a premium look."
  3. Click submit .

Edit specific elements with prompts

  1. On your computer, open an image in Google Pics.
  2. Hover over the image and click the element you want to edit (e.g., "Floor").
  3. In the pop-up, enter your prompt (e.g., "Add a woven rug").
  4. Click Add, then on the bottom bar click Apply.
  5. Optional: You can add up to five changes to individual elements within the image.
  6. To apply all edits, on the bottom bar click Apply edits.

Edit specific sections of the image with prompts

  1. On your computer, open an image in Google Pics.
  2. Hover over the image and click and drag your cursor to select an area of the image you want to edit.
  3. In the pop-up, enter your prompt with the changes you want to make (e.g., "add a woven rug").
  4. Click Add, then on the bottom bar click Apply.
  5. Optional: You can add up to five changes to individual elements within the image.
  6. To apply all edits, on the bottom bar click Apply edits

Edit text within images

Pics automatically detects text in your images, allowing you to modify existing text or change its style.

  1. On your computer, open an image in Google Pics
  2. Hover over the image and click the text element.
  3. In the edit panel, type your updated text (E.g., change "Welcome" to "Bienvenue") or describe style changes (e.g., "make the text bold and italic").
  4. To apply the updated text click Save and then click on the bottom bar click Apply.

Tip: You can add up to five changes simultaneously, including text and image edits.

Crop, rotate, and change the aspect ratio of your image

You can crop, rotate, and change the aspect ratio of your photos in Google Pics.

  1. On your computer, open an image in Google Pics.
  2. At the top, select Crop Crop, then:
    • To crop the image, drag the corners.
    • To rotate the photo, at the bottom, drag the dial right or left.
    • To change the aspect ratio, select an option from the dropdown menu More (e.g., 16:9, 1:1, 4:3).
    • To undo all of your adjustments, select Reset.
  3. At the bottom, click Exit to apply your changes.
