With Gemini in Google Slides, you can generate fully editable presentations. This helps you save time and focus on how to refine your message.
Generate a new presentation
To create a fully editable presentation with text and images, describe your topic and goals to Gemini in the side panel. Based on your prompt and any reference files you provide, Gemini will guide you through a quick, tailored conversation to refine the details before building your slides.
- On your computer, go to Google Slides.
- In the start screen, click “Presentation.”
- Or, in a blank presentation, with no existing slides, at the top right, click Ask Gemini

- In the side panel, describe the presentation you want to create.
- For example: “Create a 5-slide presentation on quantum computing for a general audience with a modern design.”
- Optional: To upload files from Drive as a reference:
- Click Add sources

- Select the file you want to use.
- Click Add.
- Optional: Let Gemini search and reference relevant content from the web, your Drive, Chat, or Gmail. Learn how to manage source settings.

- To refine your presentation plan, you can answer Gemini’s follow-up questions or clarifications. These questions will differ based on your topic or references you provided. You can skip these questions.
- Click Next.
- Gemini generates a presentation plan with:
- An overview.
- Sources: The list of the documents used as reference.
- Steps: The content outline of each slide.
- Gemini generates a presentation plan with:
- Optional: Modify the presentation outline.
- To edit a slide title or content: Click on the slide outline and edit the brief description of the outline.
- To add a new slide: Hover over any title and click Add step
and enter the title.
- To remove a slide: Hover over the slide and click Delete

- To apply your changes: To let Gemini re-generate the outline, click Update plan.
- Once satisfied with the plan, click Approve.
- Keep the tab open until Gemini generates your presentation. You can switch to other tabs or windows but not close Google Slides.
Tip: Once your presentation is generated, you can:
