Important: This article is referring to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features. The Workspace Labs program may not be available in your country. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs program features, open a new form on Google Forms and look for “Help me create a form” at the top.
To generate a summary of all responses to open text questions in your form, in Google Forms, use “Summarize responses.”
This feature is currently available on desktop and in English. Learn how to change your language on the web.
If you can’t find this feature and your account is part of an organization, you can ask your admin to turn on the feature for you.
Use Gemini to summarize responses
Important:
- You can generate summaries once there are 3 to 200 responses.
- You can’t generate summaries of quiz responses.
To generate a summary of a question’s responses:
- On your computer, open a form in Google Forms.
- At the top, click Responses.
- For each text question, click Summarize responses
.
- Optional:
- To generate a new response summary, click Retry.
- To copy the summary, click Copy.
Tips:
- If you get new responses while the summary is open, to refresh the summary, click Refresh with latest responses.
- The generated summaries aren’t saved. You can copy or generate them again.
- Summaries won’t be generated for direct questions, like names and addresses.

Gemini for Google Workspace constantly learns and may not be able to support your request.
If you get a suggestion that’s inaccurate or that you feel unsafe, you can submit feedback to let us know. Your feedback can be used to enhance AI-assisted Workspace features and expand Google efforts in AI.
- Below the generated summary, select Good suggestion
or Bad suggestion

- In the pop-up window, you can select the data you want to share along with your feedback, including prompts and outputs. If you don't want to share certain data, you can uncheck it.
- If you select Bad suggestion
, select Next to select the issue you found and enter additional feedback.
- If you select Bad suggestion
- Click Submit.

Turn off Summarize responses
To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs, you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you:
- Permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features.
- Won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn how to turn off Workspace Labs features.
