Image creatives

An image creative is an image that a person can click to visit your landing page. Display & Video 360 supports images in GIF, JPG, or PNG formats that use the RGB color format.

Image creatives you create in Display & Video 360 meet AMP ad format guidelines. AMPHTML ads deliver faster, lighter, and more secure ad experiences across platforms.

Before you get started

Review the display creative guidelines for asset requirements and best practices.

Upload an image creative

  1. Open an advertiser, then click Creatives in the left menu.

  2. Click New, then Upload, then HTML5 or image.

  3. Enter a name for the creative in Display & Video 360.

  4. For "Creative asset", add the image you want to use. The file size can be up to 10 MB and the image size can be up to 4000 x 4000 pixels. In some cases, uploading images larger than 4000 x 4000 pixels may result in automatic downsizing and potential aspect ratio issues. If this happens, you’ll be advised to upload a smaller image.

    • Drag your creative's image file from your computer and drop it over "Drag file here".

    • Or, click Upload, then select an image from your computer.

  5. Enter a landing page URL, beginning with http:// or https://. URLs can be up to 1024 characters long.

  6. Save your creative.

Display & Video 360 manually and automatically reviews your creatives to make sure they work. Creatives are also checked to make sure they comply with Google's ad policies and the policies of exchanges they can serve on. You can check the status of your creatives in the Creative status tab.

The following settings are optional.

  • When your interstitial ad doesn't fit the screen on mobile, Display & Video 360 scales it to fit. To prevent scaling, turn on "Don't scale to fit device width."

  • To add a tracking tag, an integration code for an external tool, or notes, click Additional details.
