Metadata Enhancement for GAC Partners
We're excited to announce Metadata Enhancement, a new functionality designed to empower Google Arts & Culture (GAC) partners in enriching their collections' metadata. This innovative tool leverages AI to generate informative content, enhancing storytelling on GAC platforms and making your valuable assets more deeply discoverable.
Metadata Enhancement aims to address the current low coverage of metadata across various fields, providing deeper context for users and powering richer experiences. With this new feature, partners will have access to tools that can generate visual asset descriptions and provide direct control to run and tune existing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) features.
Adding more metadata also helps discoverability by making assets easier to search, and provides opportunities for better navigation of the collection
What does the process look like?
The process has been streamlined to allow an effective generation of properties, while providing full control to the partners. The overview is the following:
- The partner selects a type of modification
- We show a short preview so the partner can verify that they selected the correct action
- A long, bulk process starts
- When the process finishes, the generated properties will be complete. Depending on the option selected by the partner, they will be shown automatically (but the partner can still revert) or the partner can approve them before display.
