Introduction
This section covers how to:
- Narration: enable text-to-speech for Stories
- Generate AI soundtrack audio files
- Provide an audio soundtrack for the story
- Tips on Prompts Writings for AI Soundtracks
Narration
You have the ability to specify a narration voice for your story - you can select either a male or female narrator. Narration is a story level setting - and you have the ability to disable narration for panels that have other audio.
We support narration for all languages on this list.
Enabling narration for a story:
1) Click on the AI Audio menu item in the Story title bar:
2) Choose your narration voice and save (please note narration may take a few minutes to generate):
Disabling narration for an audio panel
When you add an audio track to a panel, there is an option to disable story level audio on that panel.
Previewing audio narration
Once you have chosen a voice for your story, you will be able to turn on narration in the Story Editor preview:
If enabled on the story cover, you can also turn the narration on/off while reading the story:
Audio Soundtrack Generation
You can now add audio even if you don't have your own audio tracks by generating soundtracks with MusicLM.
- Click the speaker icon on the panel trigger the audio dialog
- Click the "New AI Soundtrack" button to generate a new soundtrack
3. Enter a prompt and click "Generate AI soundtrack", wait for the audio to generate. Note that prompts for Audio generation are required to be in English, regardless of the language you are writing your story in. You should also avoid naming specific people in the prompt, and instead specify a musical style. Music will take around 30 seconds to generate.
4. Preview the soundtrack by clicking play
5. [Optionally] Retitle your soundtrack
6. Add soundtrack to your collection to be able to add it to your story
7. Drag the soundtrack into your story panel
8. See your audio soundtracks in the AI Soundtracks tab
Story Level Audio Soundtrack
To add a soundtrack to your story, click on the AI Audio Button, the Add audio track to story.
You can then drag an existing audio file or create a new one for the story - as in the Audio Soundtrack Generation flow:
If "Loop audio" is selected, the audio track will loop for the duration of the time the person is reading the story. If not, the soundtrack will stop when finished, regardless of the user's progress through the story.
In order to get the most out of our new AI soundtrack feature, here is a guide for writing effective prompts to generate the kind of music you have in mind.
Tips on writing prompts for AI Soundtracks
In order to get the most out of our new AI soundtrack feature, here is a guide for writing effective prompts to generate the kind of music you have in mind.
- Start with Genre: Specify the music style.
- Examples: "Jazz," "Electronic," "Classical," "Ambient," "Rock."
- Tip: Start your prompt with the genre.
- Add Instruments: List the instruments.
- Examples: "Piano," "Synthesizer," "Strings," "Drums," "Guitar."
- Tip: Combine instruments for specific sounds (e.g., "Piano and strings").
- Describe Tempo/Mood: Describe the speed and feeling.
- Tempo: "Fast," "Slow," "Moderate."
- Mood: "Relaxing," "Energetic," "Dramatic," "Calm," "Intense."
- Tip: Use descriptive adjectives (e.g., "Slow and melancholic").
- Add Context (Optional): Add a scenario for focus.
- Examples: "For a nature scene," "For a chase scene," "For background music."
- Tip: This adds depth to the generation.
- Combine: "Electronic with synthesizer and drums, fast tempo, energetic mood, for a chase scene."
Tips for Better Prompts:
- Be Specific: More details yield better results.
- Use Adjectives: "Mellow", "Driving", "Soaring," etc.
- Iterate: Adjust prompts based on results.
- Musical Terms (If Known): "Arpeggiated," "Staccato," etc.
- Focus on Change: Describe how the music evolves (e.g. "Calm intro, builds to intense middle").
- Avoid Ambiguity: Use clear, direct language.
- Instrument combinations: "Acoustic guitar and piano" is more useful than "stringed instruments".
Example Prompts:
- "Classical piano, slow and calm, for background music."
- "Jazz with saxophone and drums, moderate tempo, mellow mood."
- "Ambient synthesizer, slow and mysterious, for a space scene."
- "Rock with electric guitar and drums, fast tempo, energetic mood."
- "Cinematic strings and brass, dramatic and powerful, for a battle scene."
