The Google Home app can notify you of a variety of home and device updates such as new home members, account changes, product updates, and device specific notifications. You can control whether or not to receive these notifications in the settings of the Google Home app.
Your Google Home app sets notifications to off by default. When you set up the app for the first time or add a new device, the app asks if you want to turn notifications on.
When notifications are off, you do not receive alerts about home activity, such as motion alerts or package detection.
Change general notifications
- Open the Google Home app

- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Tap Home settings

- If push notifications aren't enabled in your device's settings, a banner appears on the screen.
- To turn on push notifications in your device's settings, tap the link in the banner and follow the steps.
- Select General notifications.
- Turn any notifications on or off.
- If you turn on critical alerts, a banner appears if they're not enabled in your device’s settings. Tap the link in the banner and follow the steps to turn them on in your device’s settings.

Change email notifications
After you set up your Pixel Tablet, Chromecast, Google TV Streamer (4K) or Nest speaker or display in the Google Home app, you'll receive a welcome email that provides helpful information to get you started.
If you choose to receive emails, it'll keep you up-to-date on the latest about your device. You'll get tips and tricks, and learn about new features, partners, offers, research surveys, and much more.
- Open the Google Home app

- At the top right, tap your account.

Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.
- If correct, tap Close
to exit the account window.
- If you need to switch accounts, tap the drop down
- If correct, tap Close
- Tap Settings
Notifications
- Turn any email notifications on or off. You can also opt out of email updates by selecting the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email you receive.
Notifications System level notifications
If there's an important update regarding your device, you may receive a notification or email even if you've opted out of receiving other types of notifications from the Home app.
