Audio and video are out of sync on Google TV Streamer

If your audio or video is delayed, drops or gets out of sync, try these troubleshooting steps.

Troubleshooting steps

Step 1: Check your cable equipment and setup

  • Ensure that your TV and any connected audio equipment (A/V receiver or soundbar) supports HDMI 2.1.
  • If the Google TV Streamer is directly plugged into the TV, make sure that your audio system is connected to the TV's e-ARC HDMI port using an HDMI 2.1 cable.

Step 2: Reboot your Google TV Streamer

From Google TV

  1. At the top right of your TV screen, select All settings Settings.
  2. Select System and then Restart.

From the power source

  1. Unplug the power cable from the streaming device.
  2. Leave it unplugged for one minute.
  3. Insert the cable back into the streaming device.
Note: When you unplug Google TV Streamer from the TV’s HDMI port, it doesn't reboot the device. It must be disconnected from the power source in order to reboot.

Step 3: Check whether your TV, A/V receiver or soundbar has an audio offset adjustment setting

When delays are constant, you can try to adjust the audio delay settings on your TV, A/V receiver or soundbar. Check the manufacturer for instructions. Here’s an example from Samsung TV.

Step 4: Check the output format settings

  1. At the top right of the TV screen, select All settingsSettings
  2. Select Display and soundand thenAudio optionsand thenOutput format.
  3. In the section Output format, select Automatic to let your system set the best format for you.

Important: If Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital or PCM stereo is selected, your media equipment (TV, A/V receiver or soundbar) should also support this format to avoid audio or visual issues.

Step 5: Turn off the 'Dialogue enhancement' and 'Volume leveller' settings

The Dialogue enhancement and Volume leveller settings can cause audio and video sync issues.

  1. At the top right of your TV screen, select All settings Settings.
  2. Select Display and sound and then Audio options.
  3. Turn off Dialogue enhancement and Volume leveller

Step 6: Turn off the surround sound setting

  1. At the top right of your TV screen, select All settings Settings.
  2. Select Display and sound and then Advanced sound settings and then None: Never use surround sound

Step 7: Reboot your router

Check the manufacturer of your router for instructions.
