Set up the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote customisable button

Google TV Streamer Voice Remote introduces a customisable button, identified with a star icon. This customisable button allows you to create a shortcut to open the Google Home panel or a favourite TV app, or display the input source for your TV or other display device.

Create a shortcut

Press the customisable button. Choose the type of shortcut below.

Open Google Home

Select Google Home on the list.
Select Create shortcut.
A message will appear confirming that the shortcut has been created.

Note: It may take some time for the home panel to sync after the initial setup. If it's been more than one hour and you're unable to personalise your remote to create a custom shortcut to Google Home on your TV, restart your device. Have a look at Control smart home devices on your Google TV for more information about the home panel.

Open a favourite app

Select an app on the list.
Select Create shortcut.
A message will appear confirming that the shortcut has been created.

Display device inputs

Display the input source for your TV or other device and switch between them with the customisable button.

Press Create shortcut.
Select your device or add your device with the plus icon .
Press the customisable button to switch through all of your device inputs.
Once you’ve selected your preferred input, you’ll be asked, 'Did the customisable button work?' Select Yes.
A message will appear confirming that the shortcut has been created.

Edit a shortcut

Press the customisable button for one to two seconds. Choose which shortcut you want to create:

Open Google Home
Open a favourite app
Display device inputs

Note: If the original shortcut created for the customisable button was to display device inputs, follow these steps to edit the shortcut:

Make sure that there’s no physical barrier between the Voice Remote and the display device.
Go to the customisable button settings. At the top right of your TV screen, select All settings Remotes and AccessoriesSet up remote buttonsCustomisable button.
Choose which type of shortcut you want to use.
