Search with Lens on your Chromebook

To search Google for any content on your screen or extract text from an image directly to your clipboard, you can use “Search my screen with Google Lens.”

Search your screen with Lens

To get more information about any content on your screen, use “Search my screen with Google Lens” or copy text from images. On Chromebook Plus, you have additional actions, like:

  • Add to Calendar
  • Send to Docs

Search from your Launcher

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom left, select Launcher .
    • Or, on your keyboard, press Launcher .
  2. Select the Lens .
  3. On your screen, select a region.
  4. You can find the results in the Google Search window.

Search from Screen Capture tool

  1. Open Screen Capture.
  2. From the menu, at the bottom of your screen, select Take partial screenshot .
  3. To select a region, select and drag on your screen.
  4. Select Search with Google .
  5. You can find the results in the Google Search window.

Find the results

When you use “Search my screen with Google Lens,” you can find the results based on your selection:

  • Search with Google Search: The search results are from Google Search. This is available for all screen selections.
  • Copy text: Copy text from your selection to your clipboard. This is available when text is detected.
  • More actions: Only available on Chromebook Plus devices, a list of actions based on your selection. For example, if you select text that contains a date, you can find an option to add to your Calendar. Learn about More actions.

Tip: To close Lens, select outside of the results window.
