Use Reading mode in Chrome

Customize your reading experience on Chrome with Reading mode. This feature helps you:

• Focus more easily on text.
• Reduce distractions from images and videos on screen.
• Select alternate typeface and font size.
• Choose color theme.

If you’re using Chrome on a computer, you can also:

• Listen to the text you read.
• Select a voice and change voice speed.
• Adjust line and letter spacing.

Turn on Reading mode

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. Go to the web page you want to read.
3. On the right of the address bar, tap More Show Reading mode .

Tip: When you tap “Show Reading mode” and the web page isn’t available in Reading mode, a pop up message appears that “Reading mode is unavailable.”

Use Reading mode to make reading easier

You can adjust font settings and background color in Reading mode.

1. On the right of the address bar, tap Show Reading mode .
2. At the bottom, pull the “Reading mode” sheet.
3. You can:
   • Adjust the font: Select a font style from:
     • Sans Serif
     • Serif
     • Mono
   • Adjust the font size: Scroll to your preferred font size.
   • Change the Reading mode background color: Select a background color from:
     • Light
     • Sepia
     • Dark
