This article is intended for administrators and end users who want to learn about what data is collected by this feature and how it’s processed by Google.

Use of this service is governed by Google’s Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

This is a generative AI tool that allows users to express themselves by generating imagery inline and inserting the generated image into a web input box or downloading the image to their device.

To use this feature, users need to:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be using a Chromebook Plus device
  • Be in a country where the feature is allowed
  • Right click on an editable text field or trigger the feature using Quick Insert

Configure generative AI settings in your Admin console

Before you begin: To configure settings for a specific group of user accounts or enrolled Chrome browsers, put the users or browsers in an organizational unit or group.

  1. Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

  2. Go to  Menu and then Devices > Chrome > Settings. The User & browser settings page opens by default.

Requires having the Mobile Device Management administrator privilege.

If you signed up for Chrome Enterprise Core, go to Menu and then Chrome browser > Settings.

  3. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users and enrolled browsers, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced). Show me how

Group settings override organizational units. Learn more

  4. Scroll to Generative AI.
  5. Click the setting you want to configure. Learn about each generative AI setting.
  6. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.

To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit (or Unset for a group).

Settings typically take effect in minutes, but can take up to 24 hours to apply for everyone.
