Here's how to fix known issues you might have using Class Tools.
Note: To resolve an unexpected device lock during a Class Tools session, restart the student's ChromeOS device.
Student status is not connected (logged on to multiple devices)Issue
In Class Tools in teacher mode, if a student is signed into multiple ChromeOS devices when the session begins, their status in the student list shows as Not connected with the message Student logged on to multiple devices.
Workaround
During Class Tools sessions, students should only be signed in on 1 ChromeOS device.
Issue
For sessions where Class Tools is locked—Only allow Class Tools is turned on—students can't open quizzes that are in locked mode.

Workaround
When sharing locked quizzes, before you start the session, remember to turn off Only allow Class Tools using Class Tools in teacher mode.
Issue
Because of YouTube's unique navigation, standard URL restrictions are difficult to implement. So, in Class Tools, YouTube URLs are automatically restricted to This page only, and this navigation restriction cannot be modified.YouTube URL navigation restrictions vary depending on whether Only allow Class Tools is turned on or off for the session:
- Only allow Class Tools is turned on— The navigation restriction behaves as expected, mirroring the behavior of This page only.
- Only allow Class Tools is turned off—The navigation restriction behaves the same as All pages on this website.
Workaround
To ensure that Youtube navigation restrictions are applied as expected, in Class Tools teacher mode, ensure that Only allow Class Tools is turned on.
To properly restrict YouTube navigation, using Class Tools in teacher mode, ensure that Only allow Class Tools is turned on.
Issue
Captions in some right-to-left (RTL) languages are appearing cut off.
Workaround
Students can customize captions on their ChromeOS devices:
- On the student device, at the bottom right, select the time.
- Select Settings

Audio and captions.
- Under Caption preferences, set Text font to Noto Sans Arabic UI.
